Travelling to Hong Kong

Did you book into Langham place?

This is one of the entrances connecting to the shopping centre of the same name.

Just booked my tour of australia coming back via hong kong in september, staying 4 nights in the CityView Hotel. No idea what it will be like.

Anyone know any good places to get some decent fake stuff lol ? :)

That's the hotel we usually stay at. However this time we're staying at Ovolo over in Central. Booked up and ready to go in November. I can't wait! :D

I usually fly with Cathay Pacific, but this time we're going with BA so I can try out the a380. :D

Just thought I'd bump this thread with an update.

Hotels now booked, went for Langham Place Hotel and the Essential Place Plus - came to about £380 pp which is quite a good price I think.

Roll on August!

How's it going Raymond? :P

Sorry I missed this.

I've been back now a month ! :( Sad times.

There is a really good Korean BBQ place just outside Langham Place, it's literally across the road (take a lift up). I'll post some pics later.

Check out when Happy Valley does the racing, its every other Wednesday I think. Don't see it so much as going to the races, but see it as a place to hang out, it's almost like a outdoor clubbing scene where a lot of ex-pat meet up and chat after work over beers and a bite to eat with racing as the background entertainment.

The tramp up to Victoria Peak is fun once. Take the taxi if there are more than 1 of you and it works out much cheaper and faster.

Remember to get yourself an Oyster card when you first land from 7-11 or something, top it up with say $300 (£25), it should be plenty for a week's travel on the MTR, bus and even buy the odd snack from 7-11 and a few other places.

p.s. jaywalking is illegal, if a policeman sees you, you can get fined!

No problem mate.

Are there many pubs/restaurants near langham hotel? I've checked the shopping mall and there's a few cafe's there. We didn't opt for the hotel breakfast because it was coming to about £100 extra which seemed ridiculous money for 7 days.

I hope the horse racing is on that week because I'm quite looking forward to it to be honest.

I'll be making my list shortly of places to go, Victoria Peak is going to be #1 to be honest, also interested in checking out the Big Buddha and some of the parks.

Will get that card definitely, I'm glad there's a nearby MTR to the station!

I heard about the jaywalking thing lol, they seem to be quite strict on those kinda things, but good to know thanks!

Looking forward to seeing some pics Raymond :p

There are like 8 different exits to the MTR stations to Langham place, there is one at the basement of Langham Place ! (remember that thread where people argue about what is the 1st floor and ground floor? And they insist 1st floor is the ground floor because it is the first floor you step through when you enter a building? These people have never been to Langham place, the building has about 6 different MAIN extrances at about 4 different levels.)

As for drinking...that i don't know because I am not a drinker when i am over there.

If you want high places to go, Sky100 is great and give you a different view.

p.s. when at Victoria peak, take a walk down the path that goes ALL The way round the peak. Walk 1/4 of the way round for the best view. It'll take you about 15 mins. I have a panoramic from that point to edit and show you when its done :)

That sounds more confusing than Kings Cross St. Pancras LOL :D

Sky100 has been added to the list thanks and thanks for the tip for Victoria Peak, will defo do that!

Planning to do a day trip to Macau aswell to check it out (might aswell?)

That's the **** kok station, tbh, almost all MTS stations has a web of exits and entrances. They are split to A to H etc, and each letter can be A1 or A2 when it's split to side of a street.

I once got out of the wrong exit for Langham Place and had to resort to google map to find the building coz I was next street over.

I love Langham Place, the supermarket at the basement has a great little bakery and sushi section, but that can be said about lots of supermarkets there. There is a place call Toast Box, they do coffee in a way that you've never seen, it's pulled/filtered about 10 times, really nice, and their food is also one of the cheapest for a sit down place. Nice place for breakfast and it's right across one of your hotel entrance.

Macau is alright, casinos and hint of Portugal, I'd go for the day but remember to book a seat on the ferry, the Express Ferry and not the slow one. He express takes an hour.

This is the photo take on the path on the peak, Sky 100 is that building across the harbour.

As for food, I love Watami, there is one close by you. And get an app call Open Rice, it's basically an App like Trip Advisor but for food only for Hong Kong. What kind of food do you like?

Lady's Street, off Nathan Road, in **** Kok, by Langham Place actually!

I wouldn't call it decent haha, fake is fake, you know it, they know it, the price reflects it. The only thing I bought from there are phone cases. But it is fun to walk through.

Jason's Marketplace! When going back through the mall I always made sure to walk through the supermarket and pick up some goodies on the way. :D

5 months til my trip now. :(:D

I can't remember if this has been mentioned already, Elite, but make sure the Aviary in Hong Kong Park is on your to do list.

I do most of my drinking around the mid levels. The Wheel or La Piola usually being my starting point.
