EDIT: It's called Big Dog's Backyard Ultra and the record is 75 hours, 312 miles. The circuit is 4.16666 miles, for some reason.

EDIT: On second reading, I have seen the underlying cause of the problem and so can advise the OP on a proper fix rather than a workaround:

Replace that low earner belt with a Gucci belt to solve the problem.

This is the best answer so far, and the most correct.

Apparently my last response was a bit harsh, but op why do you think there's friction, have you tried running on something smooth like ice?

I thought it was on the nose.
