Are you saying that you get nearly NINE HUNDRED miles to a tank of diesel when you lob in 5 litres of petrol?

That is a claim that is going to need to be backed by empirical proof I'm afraid.

i said 445mls on halve a tank this is true

I once woke up and my house was spinning through the air. My old schoolteacher rode past the window on her bike. The house fell to the ground in a foreign land. I befriended a lion, a tin man and a scarecrow, and we walked along an oddly yellow road until we found a very green city. I went home.

True story.

Interesting thinking Housey, I like the cut of your jib. Lets take this to the next level though. Hows about shower gel? I considered soap, but I'm not sure the bar would fit through the filler..

They should make that into a film, it would quickly become a classic imo.

Please just put petrol in your diesel like a defiant little fool then come back and winge about how your car is broke then maybe you will gain the ability to take advice

Who knows you might become a better person for it

Since petrol doesn't mix well with diesel , and just floats on top - every time you add another fivers worth you are just increasing the odds that eventually your engine will take a nice big gulp of pure petrol, and it will be curtains to your HP Pump and Injectors, if not the lot, but hey - some of us can't afford to just **** up nice new-ish cars, so its your call.

This is a 6 month old thread! Why?!

Actually, petrol and diesel are miscible liquids - they mix thoroughly. Petrol won't just float on top of a tank of diesel. If it did, all those people who stick the wrong fuel in could sort it a lot quicker and cheaper as they'd just be able to siphon it straight out. Because they're miscible, you have to drain the tank and lose any of the correct fuel that you had in before.

You necro'd a thread from July to say something completely wrong?

Oops ! didn't notice that one at all - I'm burried far too deep in my work :p Clicked on a tab I had open (from the other thread he just started) and didn't think when I replied...

Double Fail in that case, seems my education is failing me (what little of it I have) - happy to be put right mind...

Epic Fails All Round!
