Think with rage and lightweight you could do 300+ with soldier?

I've not tried, but it wouldn't surprise me.. will have to try that also.

the new spinfusor is pretty damn good, either that or I get lucky, haven't played with it enough to decide yet.

Is it very good, does 880 damage on a direct hit.. so 3 damage more than the Bolt Launcher on direct hit, the Light Spinfusor only does 770.

I can't tell if they've buffed disk jumping or the Duelling Spinfusor just has more impulse.

I tried the normal light spinfuser along with rage and lightweight + thrust pack its awesome the speed you can get quickly using that combo makes it quite fun to chase, although you will end up with very little hp and it takes utterly ages to regen it.

You guys get on mumble last night? I can't stand playing at such a low Res on minimal detail and low fps on the on chip graphics so I should have a 8800GTX coming tomorrow. You think it would run it OK at say 720p medium settings?

Played last night, quite enjoyed it.. it's fun but some people have clearly just dropped cash and bought the best stuff.

Whats the point of the flag in TDM? What benefit do you get for holding it?

The class I played most was the solider, and just used the thumper secondary weapon and got most kills with it. As such, I spent 4200 XP on the Thumper DX. Was this a smart move? Are there any essential items I should be buying with XP first?

Cheers

Depends totally what role you want to play. Soldier is normally flag defence so items you will need for that. It crossed my mind to buy that new weapons pack last night..

No idea bout the tdm iv only played it 2 or 3 times before getting bored after 5 mins.

Honestly, the 'best' stuff isn't that much of an advantage, there are a few weapons that are ridiculous (Jackal).. but most are pretty much situational and personal preference. I've been using the new weapons with no upgrades, I've had no trouble defending myself or getting killings.

TDM works like this, each team has say 100 tickets, the tickets can only be reduced when someone has the flag, say Blood Eagle has the flag, each kill Blood Eagle makes will result in a loss of a ticket on the Diamond Sword side. The idea is to hold the flag for as long as possible while the rest of your team kills the people chasing you etc.

Go for the armour upgrades first.

The load outs pretty much consist of either AR + Thumper or Spinfusor + Eagle Pistol, Proximity grenades are very good too.. but those depend how you play the class.

Mumble was full last night, got kicked to make room due to me being in the AFK channel, as for will it run? one way to find out. :p

It's pretty tempting, if I was a new player I would purchase that no questions asked.. brilliant deal for new players. But since I already own many of the original weapons, I'm just unlocking the variations that I find useful, no doubt plenty of them don't match my play style or just aren't on a class that I play too often.

I'm still debating on whether to drop any money for this game, on one hand I love everything about it but the poor cheap and competitive of me says I only deserve something I earn. are the boosters worth it? or is it cheaper buying everything for a class and using the vip XP to unlock the other classes?

Doing better Gaij. As for dropping money in it. Its totally up to you. I always run booster and have had vip since beta.

How much are you earning per game roughly? With VIP and booster on first win of the day bonus if i score 10-15k in the game I will earn 5-6k in XP but without booster around 4500xp per map if im playing decent. I wouldnt advise unlocking with gold unless its on the deal of the day but boosters are handy.

Ah it has just changed to the upgrade through play yesterday. It actually seems pretty quick. I nearly maxed out the dualing disc in a few maps of using it.

Gaij thats how i feel. There not forcing me to spend alittle cash and If this was £45 to buy on release i would have still bought it as im a tribe hard fan. So why not spend alittle money on something you enjoy.

is the sniper class viable at all? I normally always play sniper classes, but im also a very twitchy gamer as I played a tonne of quake in my youth.

So far I've been using path finder but the radius on the spin fusor is pretty small

Sniper has just got harder but if your good at it you can make a massive difference to your team. Personally I totally suck with sniper but sneaky bear (not his user name here) from this forums is a pretty good sniper that would probably give u some pointers. If you wanna see some epic ascend sniping search for a guy called tailspin. There's some videos of him about totally dominating.

Tribes disc takes some mastering. The radius is quite small but just means you have to be more accurate. With practice you can hit every shot.

Snipers can totally shut down the enemy team, you don't even need to kill anyone.. All you have to do is hit a capper just before their health regeneration and you've totally screwed their route, to do this you need to have a good understand of routes, and know where incoming cappers are most vulnerable.

Regarding people wondering about spending money on the game, I honestly see no harm in paying for something you enjoy, I personally have spent about £50 on this game and don't regret it at all.

T:A is a true PC game, you don't get many of those these days.. I was waiting for 6 years for an FPS of this quality to be released.

Gonna save up my XP for the sniper class then me thinks. I'm getting the hang of the movement.

What game modes do most people here play? I'm just playing TDM to get to grips with it. Are there better modes?
