Trick or treating

Was dead last year, but really busy tonight, took the kids out and a few people said it was the busiest they'd had in years, left the other half at home to hand out sweets and my phone was pinging every 5 minutes with the doorbell and CCTV going off

Loads of stuff on Facebook from acquaintances, looks like loads took their kids out, been pretty quiet around here though which isn't really surprising being a village in the middle of nowhere.

When the last time somebody chose Trick ? Seems like it should just be called Treating, unless you give the kids sweets from the Toxic drums - http://www.toxicwastecandy.co.uk/candy those things are vile, just complete sourness (the worms are really nice though)
Toxic waste sweets are lovely. Another good one to give them is fireball jawbreakers. They hurt.

Indeed they are.

That keyboard could have done with a clean before you took that photo.

My grandson did it with his Nanny this evening. Not really my bag. I can't be doing with trapsing the streets. I recall doing it myself as a young man, back in the early 80's and was completely terrified by an old woman who answered her door naked. She had no idea who we were or why we were there. I think she had lost the plot looking back. At the time, I was both horrified and amused by the experience.

My colleague said trick to a couple of kids. They looked at her and asked “what’s a trick”

Was a lot of shouting outside when I had to go out several groups of teenagers yelling to each other "that lights on in the window... and that one" which looked like they were either looking for targets to scrounge from or looking to case the joint, probably not much difference between them they didn't look very confident like they weren't sure what they were doing. Pretty sure they were after something and it must have been important as the weather was foul and they didn't have proper coats or hoods from the pouring rain. Saw several traipsing groups of kids led by adults in the town centre carrying paper bags and what not, looked thoroughly bedraggled

At least 20 rings on the doorbell last night with a few larger groups. Took the pumpkin in at 1930 as it was well past kids bedtime.

Decent crowd, lots of effort and plenty of people from the local area. We had our neighbours and their son over for dinner. All the kids were really pleased to greet people at the door and we were really pleased to sit inside and not traipse around in the cold and dark! Didn’t seem quite as manic this year as last year, but plenty of visitors still.

We had a few groups visit yesterday evening, mainly little kids with parents nearby.

We did have one big group of teenagers who hadn't dressed up and were making faces at the ring doorbell, but they were polite enough to the Mrs when she gave them some sweets.

So I guess it's officially Christmas now!!

Ugh

Reviewing the door video cam this morning and judging by the lack of anyone dressed up to suit the occasion, it appeared to be just loads of mums with kids going house to house begging for sweets :(

Surprisingly we had no one, we didn't put any decorations up but last year when we were mid building works with skips and rubbish on the drive they kept coming anyway.

Our friends round the corner run out of sweets before 7pm and eventually took their decorations down to discourage kids knocking. :)

Oh well more treats for me :)
