Tried to heel toe,,,,it went wrong.

Why is everyone saying it can only be done with heavy braking? All you are doing is blipping the throttle, it has nothing to do with the amount of pressure on the brake?:confused:

Trying things like that is great fun on the road! I remember the first time I tried left foot braking... :D.

hahaha, in work one day a mate of mine asked me this "ever tried left foot braking? it's impossible for me" challenge accepted! so on the way to work around 5am, dead road etc, felt like I nearly broke my neck :D

I can remember left foot braking when I first started driving and not finding it a problem as I did it all the time in games (using steering wheel and pedals)

Every time I do it now it ends up going wrong unless I am really concentrating! My left foot is now far too used to the clutch resistance which it wasn't when I first started driving. lol

I think it has to do with the position of the pedals. Mine don't line nicely unless I am doing reasonably heavy braking (in which case I don't particularly want to messing around with heel toe.)

You're blipping the throttle and changing down a gear, so you have to be slowing down enough to actually necessitate that next gear, or it's a bit of a wasted exercise. More than anything, I was picking up on the OP's point that he is getting resistance when trying to select a lower gear so I wanted to know if he was slowing down enough to actually warrant the lower gear.

I used to know a kid who blipped the throttle everywhere he went, whether he was changing up or down :D

Ok so I mean that from now on, every gear change is met with resistance.

i.e. something is broken :(

Yea teh first time I tried to left foot break I nearly ended up through the windscreen,

Also tried to ram the gear stick into place thinking I was on the clutch. Doh. :D

easiest way to start learning is to pick up the coordination involved with just the rev matching on the down change, without braking, then add the braking when youve mastered the first part.

as for what you broke, not a clue. all part of learning to drive quick i suppose

I do it absolutely everytime on the bike, as you have to really, you don't even need to be braking to do it.

Unless you didn't have the clutch down far enough and rammed it into gear you won't have broken anything, or if you brought the clutch up whilst blipping.

Can't see the problem with it, I always heel/toe regardless of braking force, always have done, hate the feeling of using the clutch friction to bring the revs up.
