US: True Detective

I agree, series 1 was a brilliant series. Could not watch the other two at all. Watched the first few but soon gave up. I am slightly concerned that this one might be woke like most stuff these days, considering both the stars are female. Not watched any yet but I will give it a whirl.

S1 was always going to be a tough act to follow. S2 was mostly well acted but the story was all over the place but S3 was quite an interesting watch and much more consistent in the story-telling than S2. I'll hold judgement on S4 till the whole season is available to watch.

Enjoyed EP1.

Just my kind of setting too, out there in the cold like The Thing.

S1 was amazing, S2 much less so, and I haven't watched S3, so I can't comment on that.

It's going to be tough going week to week with this one, though something to look forward to I guess.

Season 3 was very good, not on the level of season 1 but miles ahead of 2.

This is off to a good start and I’m intrigued to see where they take it.

I actually don't think I finished S2 it turned me off so much. Very much agree with @antijoke that S3 is worth watching. Not as good as S1, very little is, but totally worth your time to view.

Well Season 4 Episode 1 was a pretty good opener. It's nice to have some decent writing where you find out what's going on without it being spoon fed to you too badly. Looking forward to the rest of this because anything with Jodie Foster in tends to have decent minimum level of competence.

Really good episode 2, plenty of new questions emerge but a picture is forming in my mind now as to what's happening. They've obviously unearthed an organism that unlocks some latent jiggery pokery

I’m enjoying it a lot. Jodie Foster is brilliant. But it’s more X-Files than True Detective.

I can’t believe she’s 61! I have grown up watching her.

Its okay but I cant shake the feeling that I have seen it all before - most probably because i watched Fortitude on Sky a few years back - very similar setting/story and even included Ecclestone as a police chief.

What is it with dramas these days - especially from the USA where all the main characters seemingly hate each other and themselves. So much bitching and moaning.

The ghost was a certain Mr Cole senior?
The science institue was funded by the Tuttle foundation which was the name of the family behind a lot of season 1. The senator and preacher were Tuttles. The other of course is the spiral sign that is painted on the orginal victim in Season 1 and now Season 4. I hadn't picked up on Mr Cole Snr as te ghost, I'll rewatch a bit to check that detail thanks.

aaahh, the ole jiggery pokery plot :)

EP2 kicked up a notch in a good way, looking forward to the next one.

Thought there would be more chat about this.

Half-way through and I am enjoying it a lot.

This seems to be even more 'supernatural' than the two other seasons I watched.

Ghosts/spirits leading people to bodies. The weird 'possession' that seemed to occur near the end of episode 3 etc.
