Hey guys

I placed an order with a competitor (This is where I went wrong), delivery was due today however it has been delayed and DPD are holding it (no idea why). I asked the retailer for my delivery charge to be refunded as I paid for a next day service but was told that the delivery date is just a estimate and not a guarantee so they have refused to refund me.

The service they used was DPD Next day so surely if it doesn't come next day I haven't got what I paid for (in terms of service).

Where do I stand?

I doubt there's much you can do to get a refund for delivery, Yodel would have went out of business a long time ago if that were the case.

Unless it's something you need urgently i wouldn't bother tbh, it's not even a day late yet.

If you paid for a guaranteed delivery you should be able to claim back the difference between that and standard delivery. If you just went for a standard delivery - e.g. first class, then unfortunately they're right - it is just an estimate.

Edit: just re-read the OP - if it was a guaranteed next day then they should refund you the difference.

Next day delivery = the day after they dispatch it. Not from when you order it.

Depends on how they quote it on the site

Although if it wasn't massively urgent I'd be tempted to send it back/refuse the delivery under DSR. Actually, don't refuse the delivery, open the item, then DSR it ;)

Thanks for the response guys, the service they used was DPD next day (not a service like royal mail 1-3 days for example).

I placed my order early yesturday and they despatched it yesturday so I can't see any way that I'd be in the wrong

However is DPD next day guaranteed for next day delivery? I guess that's what it biols down to.

Did they give a specific delivery date or a range of dates when you ordered?

I don't see why they won't refund you as they'll be able to get the money back from DPD for failing to deliver on time.

I'll keep on fighting them, paid £10 to deliver two SSD's and some thermal paste so I expect it delivered on time.

No idea how this company got a customer service award...

There could be a number of reasons why it's been delayed. It looks like it's not the sellers fault?

That's not the OP's problem.

He paid the seller for a service which has not been delivered. The seller has a contract with the delivery co. who have failed to deliver said service, therefore the seller should refund the OP and then take it up with the delivery co.

They're now saying that DPD won't refund them as the next day service they use is not guaranteed to be delivered next day....

Wish I had just brought some different drives from OCUK
