Trying to Kick Caffeine?

What is this now cafffeine is the new heroin? :P

I like energy drinks and all that but i've never felt like caffeine is something which I could feel a lacking of or a yearning for, is that how it is for some of you who are/were addicted to caffeine?

Anyone have any tips?

I used to drink well over 2 litres off coke a day and when cold turkey a few weeks back and lasted just over a week when I bought coke :(.

Has anyone done the same can share their experience..

Yup. Cold turkey, three weeks of headaches but i got there. I do have the occasional can but that's all it is.

Seriously addictions are not hard

Yeah right . You are refering to how easy it is to make THE DECISION to quit, not actually quit using or abusing a substance
Though i do think you are right, it doesn't help to have things built up in you're head like thaat.

Also, to immediately stop using a substance can make the side effects of stopping much harder and much much worse

I drink LOADS of coke, its basically all I drink.

If I have to stop drinking it for a while I don't notice anything. I've never noticed any effects whatsoever. I drink it because I like it, can't really imagine how its addictive.

No, I was just talking about addiction in general that's why I quoted 'Gilbretto' saying "Horrible things are addictions" and decided to follow on from that.

No I'm not, it's easy to give up almost any addiction if you make the decision in the right frame of mind and just endure the out come, the problem is the majority of people in the world think it is so hard and don't truly believe that they are capable of giving 'it' up.

Yes that goes without saying, but unless those side effects are life threatening (and I understand in some circumstances they can be) then I believe it's always best give up the addiction completely.

Like another poster has said sugar is worse for highs and the following crashes.

I find coffee gives me a caffiene hit with a controlled down whereas a sugary coke hit results in a horrible crash requiring more sugar to keep me going.

I drink 2-3 bottles of lucozade original a day, sometimes more.

I have tried stopping but I cant. Its really messing up my sleeping pattern, The earliest I can get to sleep is 2am, usually about 4am.

never in my life drunk coke or coffee, nore tea :)

robinsons orange or just water or milk is all ive really ever drank besides booze.

Used to do roughly 2litres of coca cola or similar but got told by the dentist my teeth whernt doing so well. And i have basically stopped since he told me, and only drink fizzy things when im out like cider, vodka and coke and what have you.

I used to drink lots of tea, coffee and relentless every day, and kind of needed to else I felt horrible all day. Started at my current job and shortly after just stopped drinking it as it was not doing me any good. I'll have 1-2 cups of tea a weekend now and nothing during the week.

I literally just stopped though, all I drink at work now is water and at home I drink squash. :)
