Trying to Kick Caffeine?

It's hard to quit unless you REALLY want to. You must make that decision when you are ready for it and then stick to it. Go for a coffee with whoever? Try taking decaf instead.
The sugary drinks will probably be quite hard to do without if you drink that much of them. Try either cold turkey or reduce your intake by two cans a day for the first week. The next by another two per day. A gradual decreasing of intake could be more for you if you normally have a massive quantity as you'll be more likely (perhaps) to relapse with it.
Don't deprive yourself at first, but ask yourself when you drink these drinks when during the day you could avoid having one. Then go from there.

Good luck, the first and hardest part is admitting that you have an addiction.

I defo have an addiction!

I think I am just going to do cold turkey the hardest way but I think that will be me after a few weeks. I just need to ignore soft drinks.

Going to sound silly but when I am packing them out in work (Tesco) I do become tempted lol!

kicking an addiction to caffeine? Im sorry but you dont know what a real addiction is.

That should be easy to kick.

Do you realise amphetamines are often cut with caffeine as it intensifies and prolongs the effects?

10grams of caffeine can kill you straight up. (3 tea spoons)

And this is what spiders do when they are hyped on the stuff:

If you kick it, blame it on the autism ;)

I laughed :(

I HAVE TO HAVE 1 can of redbull a day if i dont. I am a **** to every1 who happens to cross my path. I really want to kick the habbit, but a fag and a redbull is = :D

I like coffee (the taste), so no, i don't think i would give up caffeine. I have however pretty much given up coke since last august. I used to get it at lunch time, have at least 2/3 cans at the weekend. I've now switched to bottled water mostly and fruit juice. My daily caffeine comes from about 2/3 cups of tea in the day at work, and 1 double espresso American when i home and i drink that after dinner.

If you are drinking 2 litres of coke a day, i would worry about the sugar more than the caffeine personally.

Bah iv drunk a litre of coke a day for the last 15 years and im sort of fine....

Couldnt afford it much during the first year of uni though so i more or less cut out the addiction, shame this year i drink loads sitting about the house. Best thing to do is get a taste for somethign else to drink with natural sugars in it (i like pure orange juice or apple juice)

I use to hate coffee when I was younger and well into my teens... Yet, for some forgoddensaken reason I started drinking it :o

I use to drink a lot of cola as a kid, mainly cherry cola (I can't stand it now). These days I'm addicted to having ice in my cold drinks. Espcially when I'm hung over!

Your body will be craving the sugar as well as caffeine.

Deal with the sugar by eating little and often so that your blood sugar doesnt dip too low and leave you tired/cranky etc

Deal with the caffeine by lowering your intake slowly. Move onto diet coke and drink a few hundred ml less every day over the space of a week or two. This should make it easier. E.g.
day 1 - 2 litres
day 2 - 1.8 litres
day 3 - 1.6 litres

and so on... this way hopefully you wont even notice it. Youre probably also craving the habit so why dont you replace it with something else? Carrot sticks... water... ribena...crack...heroin etc ;)

Good luck!

Easy, I've done months without caffeine. Went through a Tango/Fanta phase at uni.

But these days:
Sometimes coffee at breakfast.
Always coffee at work in the morning.
Sometimes coffee at lunch.
One or 2 coffee in the afternoon at work.
And about a litre of coke at home.

Bit off topic but i'm shocked after reading how much red bull etc some of you drink! I'm no health freak but the amount of sugar cannot be good!!

My dad started selling herbal life and got me using liftoff and it picks me up far better than any energy drink i'd had before them. I'm not a tea/coffee fan but instead take a liftoff in the morning and it does me wonders.

Might be something to consider...

(not trying to sell it but email is in trust if anyone wants to try it)
