Tsohost down?

Briefly down just now (about 30 mins) back on now. As regards the notification of downtime, the email was sent out however it was from Zesthost, not helpful really as I didn't even know who Zesthost was until last night.

is tsohost and vidahost the same company? My website was just down aswell. Well the dns was, if i used ip directly it still worked.

We lost connectivity for around 50% of our network to around 50% of the internet due to a failure in one of our routers. Staff were on-site within 10 minutes and the problem was fixed within 20.

Apologies once again - there seems to have been a run of bad luck recently after our previous unblemished 2 year uptime record.

Zesthost is a company we bought earlier in the year which shares a ticketing system with Tsohost hence the duplication there.

Vidahost has no relation to Tsohost but may have also been briefly down due to the network glitch.

Apologies to anyone inconvenienced (either directly or indirectly) through this :).

just a quick question to you guys, do you have any redundancy at all? if its network then its not really tsohosts' fault unless they provide the fibres, the only sad thing about working within this industry, your hold my site/server your to blam, you fix it. Adz, good to hear your guys have got people nearby, we've had onsite offices and staff since ph started in 98 and still get people ask if we have onsite offices and staff

Thanks uk_viper but it's 100% our fault - customers should be able to expect near-100% uptime from their shared hosting which is what they've always received in the past and will again in the future - it's just unfortunate that 2 completely unrelated glitches occurred in such a short time frame and within a week of our scheduled upgrades.

we had a lightning strike on our datacenter the same time we were moving servers over to the bluesquare datacenter that was a nightmare considering our dns servers we're there and gateways

Our DNS wouldn't have been down as we use DNS servers on separate networks (in virtually all cases, unless you have a non-standard DNS configuration) - it's possible your PC was relying on a DNS server on the same network which would've been unavailable, whereas perhaps the affected shared hosting server was ok a split second later.

Most, but not all, of Vidahost operation uses the same network that Tsohost do, hence the similarity in recent unavailability (mostly due to the recent maintenance, of which all customers were notified) - but the connection is no more than that :)

Just for the record, we have confidence in Adz's company and a couple of short glitches after major maintenance perhaps isn't unexpected, although of course undesirable at any time.

Not having a dig at anyone, and probably I will be flamed for saying this but:

1. Are we not meant to pimp our own businesses on here
2. When did this place become a support forum for hosts x,y and z (most hosts including the one I use have an offsite 'emergency page' to keep clients up to date)

I know that no one is actually pimping in the true sense of the word but seeing the names of the same old hosts pop up without a mod comment is a tad annoying when others mention something about hosting and then get sent to the (unofficial) OcUK host list.

Sorry about the mini rant, not feelin the best but thought I would mention it :)

1. Hardly pimping. Some members here work for TSOhost.
2. I was asking other members to make sure it wasn't my network or ISP DNS. It's not support from anyone.

I like the fact that some members here work for TSOhost. It kind of shows that they are normal people and can have a chat with other people. I would never come on here and ask questions about TSOhost or support as I would keep that to emails. But having someone direct from TSOhost answer some peoples query's is nice. Plus it allows them to see are suggestions/comments.
