I won't be getting the car for a bit, but i find if i decide on something, it tends to help me achieve it quicker. Its come down to either an audi tt quattro 225bhp or a bmw 318. given the choice, which of these two would you prefer? Maybe you can recommend a car i haven't thought of. Ideally, i don't want to spend anymore than 10k and i'd like it to be on the new plates, i.e. not made before 2000. Im after more luxury than anything else, but power is an important issue to me. I have a 1.6 focus zetec and the lack of power is killing me inside, especially coming from a couple of turbo's before.

Audi TT 225 or, a BMW 318i - power is "an important issue" to you and yet you have to ask which one ?

I'll have what your on pal. ;):D

TT all the way, they are cheap to buy now, cheap to run and for the price very quick. You would have to pay a visit to Revo to get the most out of it.

The 225 comes with quite a few toys also, just get one with Bose. You can retrofit the CC.

Definately the TT, if I haven't got the funds to buy the 07 plate one my Mother is having as a company lease car at the end of it's three years then I will definately be looking at an "old" shape one instead.

Forget the BMW 318i, it's pretty slow. You need to be looking at the 330i instead. They can be had for 10k easily, are infinitely more powerful than a 318i and are more luxurious than an Audi TT.

The Audi TT225 will probably be the fastest of the lot but it's like comparing chalk and cheese, they're very different cars. Do you want a 4 door RWD saloon or a FWD/Quattro 2 seater sports coupe?

TTTTTTT! imo they still have one of the best/coolest interiors of any car i've been in. Yes they arn't the greatest drivers cars ever but they have loads of grip and can be lots of fun in the wet with the ESP off. Not really fast but fast enough. do it.

Very odd. The 225 TT will be swift enough but the 318 is terribly underpowered for all but the most mundane journeys. It needs to be a 325 and above to even compare to the TT.

This is the sort of thread which would be posted by somebody who doesnt really know or care much about cars beyond what they look like.

As a result, why not save a bit and get the 150bhp variant of the TT?

I've just spotted he wants to make sure its on the new style plates.

Huh? What possible difference does that make? Does he honestly think people look down on a Y plate car yet think a '51 plate is hip?

Naturally, I kick my dad in the shin everytime i see him for having an X reg TT... oh the shame.

There is nothing wrong with setting yourself the target of having a newish car. I myself tried to look for a car later than 2000 when I was looking for my current car. It mistifies me why some in this thread decided to jump on such a reasonable requirement.

Daztrouk it doesnt look like you have done much research so I would suggest looking on autotrader or pistonheads to see what takes your fancy. Then people will be able to offer you some proper advice.

Becuase you get the dinstinct impression that if his dream TT came up on a Y plate he'd reject it but if it was 3 days newer on a '51 plate he'd jump at the chance. This is daft.
