Turkey Twizzler

Our high school used to allow an ice cream van to drive onto the playground every single lunch time. A lot of kids spent their whole lunch money on a sherbet ice cream and smiley face sweets.

There's probably a market for a "retro" range of foods. The sort that remind people of school meals and purposely made the old way (unheathy).

I think is was an EU ruling that banned it. Not sure we ever did it though.
I understand that the US love to bleach their meat...which is also banned under EU ruling here I think.
Can anyone confirm.?

This is a worrying aspect of Brexit, our dodgy bunch of *****, will no doubt try to deal with the US for their own profit, and in the process deregulate some of our food sourcing and food processing.
Horse won't have a look in when we start getting American maggoty meat, chlorine chicken and other mess.
American foods are awful, their regulation is appalling, and we must do what we can to avoid it.

Same here. Each break he was there selling ice cream Mars bars and 99ers and all other sugary confectionery.

So these are being reintroduced this week at Iceland, I don't think I ever had them as a kid but will be picking up a box of them to see what all the fuss was about.

Back in the days when I was a kid all my friends, both male and female were slim. Not may were fat even at school, the fat were very few.

These days there are more fat and obese kids, even at a very young age. This is because of the turkey twizzlers and the fast foot joints.

Even in the supermarkets you get pizzas for 80p, packs of burgers for a quid etc, its not healthy it's junk food the shops are awash with cheap crap high is salt, sugar and all sorts of chemicals to keep it looking like meat.

it's cheaper to buy the kids a happy meal than it is to feed them proper, we are now bringing up obese kids as the norm, the likes of that prat Oliver at least tried to stop that.

They won't be the same.

Turkey Twizzlers are making a comeback... but why did they go away?

Bernard Matthews says their newest version of the Twizzler is a lot healthier than their previous offering. They say they have doubled the amount of meat in them, as well as having lower levels of fat, salt and sugar.

"We have spent a lot of time making sure that we are delivering a healthy, a significantly healthier, product than it was before. It is very much a different product," said David Leigh who is the marketing director at the company.

I want the old ones back.

They were unhealthy but delicious.

To be fair though, as a child i was eating these and cheeseburgers every lunchtime. Although it was fantastic, I was deffo becoming a porker.

WTF is a Turkey Twizzler? Makes me think of a Twister Ice Cream but instead Turkey on a stick. I know Turkey Drummers.

My school was mostly sausage roll or bacon and sausage sandwiches at first break, maybe a cookie or two. Then pie, or nuggets and chips, maybe curry and chips, something with gravy and mash potatoes. That sort of stuff. Yes there was always a cake similar to the one posted above. Wasn't bad value.

I used to love a turkey twizzler for lunch at high school. I'm sure the ingredients were by no means healthy but none of us were fat as we actually ran around outside and played.

I don't remember eating them at school but I think my mum fed them to me (I was a picky eater) when I was younger and I remember they were great. I've been skinny all my life (been 5'11, 63kg since I was about 21) but I do move around a lot :D ;)

A product made mainly from fat, sugar and salt, with a topping of turkey bone, connective tissue and entrails.

Yum.
