Turkish Grand Prix 2011, Istanbul Park - Race 4/19

Why? He is doing something he loves.

Exactly. And those of us that never thought much of him get to laugh at his performances.

Everyone's a winner.

I watch him go about his business on track and see him scrape in to the top 10, (if he's lucky,) and can't help but think it's a waste of his and Mercedes time. It does his less than stellar reputation no favours at all.

(Schumacher will win the race now. :D)

He might be doing something he loves, but I'd rather think of legendary sportsmen at the height of their sport, not trying to recreate their youthful skills but failing. Example, I think of Sir Stephen Redgrave as an amazing rower but if he were to get back in the boat today and try to achieve what he did years ago, it would be another facepalm time. He knew when it was time to quit, respect to that.

I have to say that I don't hold anything against Shui coming back and I don't think it's going to tarnish his reputation or his legacy.

He is still a legend which ever way you look at it and just because he's no longer winning isn't going to take that away from him.

I personally think F1 is a better place with him involved no matter where he finishes.

Last season and already this season, his competitiveness and determination has created some interesting battles with other drivers. Just because they are taking place around P10 rather than P1 doesn't bother me in the slightest because it's still entertaining.

He enjoys it, I enjoy it so where's the harm?

Hi everyone, other than the obvious, did I miss anything from qualy yesterday? :)

Oh and please dont sell it Bernie. I dont want Sky to get their hands on F1.

i reckon mercedes have gone the same way as rbr with the wing flap by making it big and thats why rosberg has got up to 3rd.

dont think he will finish that high.

The only real place I can see the Bahrain GP fitting in is during the 3 week break - but they'd have to cancel the factory closure during that time.

Either that or extend the season through to December, which I'm sure the teams would absolutely love. ;)

Any idea how cheap the Turkish GP is to attend? Im tempted considering how empty it always seems to be...

As little as £30 iirc. Thread earlier in the year, when I looked hard at going. But by the time you add flights and hotel/youth hostel on. It's still like 200.

Road trip next year.

Very (in UK terms). About £35 for a weekend general admission, and start line grandstands (which is about the only grandstand) is less than £100 for the weekend.

However, it still seems to be to much for the Turkish. Either that or they just arent interested.

Jenson Balance Button. I said at work in qfy I wonder how long it was before he whinged about balance issues. The next words out his mouth were balance problems.

Hopefully this race he will get on with it.

Glock is back in the Virgin garage and out of the car. Seems the step forwards is more of a side step...

Outqualified by a HRT and the new floor/exhaust combo failed.
