I'm sure Hamilton has paid more in tax than most on this whole forum

You do know that’s not how tax works. You do know that’s not how anything works. If you earn X you should pay Y. If everyone who earned good money paid as little tax as possible the country would be ******.

Its like the argument that someone is a saint for giving £500k to charity when they are a billionaire. That’s nice but it doesn’t even register with them. It’s far more impressive when someone earning minimum wage gives anything to charity.

Not paying your share of tax is scummy. It’s scummy when people do it and it’s scummy when companies do it.

Great race - full of entertainment and unknowns....

Lewis once again showing his total class as a driver - cream always comes to the top.

People rant on about the "car" etc - the fact he lapped his own team mate in the same car shows the difference in his level of driving.

Perez is the better driver for me and I suspect this was Albons last chance to nail down that drive. For someone who is 4th in the drivers championship, missed 2 races from Covid and doesn't have a seat next year is crazy.....

Props to Lewis - 7th title - unstoppable - 8 should be pretty easy with little/no changes in the regs for next year unless Red Bull really find something between now and next year.

I think your missing the point - he's paying all the relevant tax his is legally obliged to pay....

If that happens to be zero in Monaco/Switzerland then so be it.

He's not illegally dodging tax, he's not been charged with any tax evasion. So exactly what is he doing wrong?

tax avoidance aims at minimizing tax, while tax evasion is deemed a form of not paying tax. Tax planning, on the other hand, helps businesses to ensure tax efficiency.

Entertaining race, full of incidents. Pleased Vettel got a podium in a terrible year.

Well done Lewis, only question now is if he sticks around for 8 or 9 titles.

I fear Albon sealed his fate today. Max's mistakes gave him an opportunity to really impress, and he failed. Ending up, like Max, trundling home in the middle of the points behind slower cars. Some decent overtakes don't really compensate for that.

How come you voted the race a 5 @fez ?

I honestly don’t find races that have artificial drama very exciting. Overtaking was almost impossible for the first part of the race because going off line was suicide and then it was for the most part a boring race. There wasn’t much wheel to wheel racing.

Some of these issues are just endemic in F1 currently where overtakes that do happen are usually a formality and the result of the race is pretty much a foregone conclusion.

Perhaps a 5 was mean but I didn’t think it was all that.

I was thinking I wonder when the last race was that had wet weather tires from start to finish (even this is hard to remember!) and no safety car or red flag laps at all? Can't imagine its happened since the real real old days.

I know and understand all of this. That doesn’t change my view. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. The idea that your job is to pay as little as you can to support the most in need is frankly baffling and a great window into the me first and **** everyone else mentality that so many people have.

If people like Hamilton lived here and paid taxes normally like the rest of us they would still be filthy rich. They would never even have to think about money. His net worth is ~£230m.

To be honest this is down to the government to close those loopholes but funnily enough these well connected, highly paid mp's with their various business interests don't seem that motivated too... :o

With regards to the race, great drive by Hamilton and at the very least the best driver of recent generations. Max. Max, Max, Max... He just needs to calm down because the red mist doesn't work. His team or his dad or someone needs to kick him up the arse because he is sabotaging himself right now with some of his decisions and the mistakes caused by them. Feel sorry for Stroll but his car just seemed to leave its perfect window. Maybe they needed some light rain to help them out? Also feel a bit bad for LeClerc but he's still young so will have many more chances. If Max was a hot head i'd say LeClerc was a warm head. Lol! I think he'll learn to control it quicker than Max will though.

Monsoon for the last BTCC race if you ladies want to see some real racing :D
Will check this out.

Bad result for Renault. Looks like RP will get 3rd.

What a way to win the wdc for Hamilton. Amazing drive.
Bottas. Ugh oh.

Verstappen too impatient.

These races make our break drivers .

Feel a bit bad for stroll.

If he was white i do not think you would take any issue with him, reason for this view is because i dont see you complaining about jensson button and other whites who are doing the same and worse. why only mention Hamilton by name?

Because we were talking about Hamilton... Do you genuinely believe I have such strong opinions about Hamilton dodging tax but don’t care that Button does/did the same. It’s sad that your rebuttal is to call me racist.

I never called you racist. Has lewis hamilton broken any tax laws? can you you please provide evidence that he has broken any laws regards to tax?

You said that I am taking issue with him because he is black and if he was white I wouldn’t care. That’s the definition of racism.

I’ve already said that I know the rules around tax and that he isn’t breaking any laws. That doesn’t mean I think that what he (and all the other people who live in Monaco to avoid paying tax) is doing is not scummy.

There are no explicit rules against so many things that most people don’t do because they aren’t selfish pricks. Do you genuinely think it’s OK for people to do everything within their power to pay as little tax as possible regardless of their vast wealth?

If you had the money to live anywhere. Why would you choose the UK?

I might not live in the UK but the rate of tax would not factor into my decision if I was earning £30m year. Monaco is tiny and is basically a tax haven. That’s why, out of all the places in the world they could live, a large number of F1 stars live there.
