And only Hamilton is the only driver labelled a tax Dodger...

Show me all the articles about the other drivers who live in Monaco. There are basically none. Lewis Hamilton is talked about a lot. Most of it is simply because of his F1 driving. Some of it is his love of being in the limelight and the celebrity life and some of it is him telling people how they should act.

Bottas lives in Monaco too. Tell me 3 things not associated with F1 about him.

When Wayne Rooney was at the peak of his career the media did exactly the same thing to him. Positive one second, negative the next. They didn’t give a **** about Ledley King.

This isn’t a race thing, it’s a fame thing.

I might not live in the UK but the rate of tax would not factor into my decision if I was earning £30m year. Monaco is tiny and is basically a tax haven. That’s why, out of all the places in the world they could live, a large number of F1 stars live there.

So you expect him to pay into a system hes not taking out of.

Mika Hakkinen, Gerhard Berger, Riccardo Patrese, David Coulthard - all retired F1 drivers. Button & Rosberg live there, Verstappen, Kvyat, Leclerc, Massa live there.... the list is endless....

I know. There’s loads of them. It’s scummy from all of them. I really don’t get your point.

My point was that no one talks about Bottas at all. I have never seen an article about Bottas in the papers. He’s been second in the championship for the past few years. No one gives a crap. If the papers are talking about you then you will get the good and bad.

Its not like everyone is talking about all the other drivers glowingly and then slagging Hamilton off.

Can you take the talk of tax evasion to another thread so we can keep this for the Istanbul race. Ta.

If I earned what he does and travelled all over the world with so little time spent at home, I wouldn’t want to give half my money to the government either.

Also, the 1/10s in the poll made me laugh :D

It can have a 10 from me, it was thoroughly entertaining. I didn’t even move to get breakfast! Every lap had something going on. That said, it didn’t rain heavily on the last lap as hyped :p

I was literally lost for words after that, how the hell did he do that?

Really, Silverstone 2008 was amazing skill, but that was just shocking the bloke is a master., maestro, I think the commentators and presenters were kind of in shock, yes Lewis tends to win this season, but that was ridiculous. We really did witness an amazing performance.

Its not often I even consider a 10 for a race, but what we witnessed today will be looked back on for many years to come. Absolute mastery of the conditions and the tyres. It feels like he did something that really shouldnt have been possible, and kept a pace that was just ridiculous. I remember with 20 laps to go I was thinking those tyres must be on their last legs and that they must pit him, but he just kept going and going, keeping the temps just right on those extremely worn boots.
I was genuinely in awe of that performance today. A drive worthy of the 7th WDC title. I might not sometimes completely agree with how he conducts himself outside of the car, but he is very quickly removing any lingering doubts as to his place amongst the legends of the sport. In my opinion one of the most complete racing drivers to grace the sport. He has had his fair share of mistakes and controversy over the years but he has grown and learned. Unfortunately for his rivals, he is also driving for one of the most complete teams ever. This success will not last for ever, every empire eventually falls, but I sure am glad I have the opportunity to bare witness to this greatness play out.

Fantastic race to watch.
Great midfield battle, great battle up front, looked like there were 6 drivers in contention of wining this race at one stage.

That wasn't just a champions drive, it was legendary drive and will go down in the history books.

The rain and tarmac was a great leveller, it was fingertip racing stuff.

Pity about Max not being able to challenge, he is fast for a few laps but I don't think he can be fast and consistent. He reminds me of a better version of Grosjean or probably more like Montoya to be fair.

I was pondering what Schumacher would have done in Max's car today.

This is the guy that won a race a few months back by driving most of a lap at over a hundred miles an hour on three wheels. Really, we should no longer be surprised at all the "impossible" stuff he manages to pull off. He's not just the greatest driver, he's got an amazing team and car backing him up, and he makes everything more than the sum of its parts. He's the kind of talent that you see in a sport once a generation, if that.
