Turn Baldurs Gate and its sequel into the single best CRPG experience you'll likely ever encounter

Going to start it tonight at work, but the only thing i don't have working is the widescreen mod as i didn't tick it when downlaoding the mods:o

Anyone know the best way to get it on it's own?

It's linked in the OP, it's completely stand alone so you can run it anytime to change resolution if you find it doesn't look right.

Whatever you do dont stick the game to 1920x1200 :p

Either 1024x768 or 1280x800 are the best resolutions for this game.

Here is a screenshot of the beginning of BG1 with and without:) I don't know how representitive this is as they are on different machines on different screens.
It looks a hell of a lot better in play

Without the mods

With the mods

I still can't get the widescreen to work though:(

Any idea why i can't get it working fullscreen?
On my main rig without mods i have it covering the whole screen without using the widescreen mod, but in my laptop i have a black bar on each side of the screen

That's more like it:D You can substitute this picture for the one above now as a better representation

I thought i would run the widescreen setup again and even though i did everything exactly the same, it has now worked:confused:

This installation seems to be like that generally, it works when it wants to:p

I'll say it again to reiterate, That is Baldur's Gate 1!!!

Just installed the GoG versions of 1 and 2 but keep getting assertion failure errors when trying to play either game. I've tried running as an admin, running in compatibility mode for Win95, running in 256 colours, 640x480, visuals disable, etc.. I'm not sure what else to try.

I'm running Win7 64 bit, ATI 5870, i5 something-or-other. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

edit- nm, reinstalled, altered install location, problem solved.

Does anyone know if the larger text mod will work with this?
I am unsure as to whether it will conflict with anything.

I'm considering whether to install it or not, as it looks good anyway

Here is the start of BGII as well, so everything is working now and looks great

I've followed the Neil's installation guide but I can't get TobExLoader to run. When I open it I get a black DOS-type window, my whole screen goes black then it crashes to the desktop. I've tried running it in compatibility mode but that did nothing.

Any ideas?

Is it crashing or just minimizing?

Mine was minimizing as soon as i started it everytime and tbh, i'm not sure what i did to sort it out. I know that changing the colour to 32bit in BGconfig helped, as did running the widescreen mod.

I think i just ran it a few times and then it worked tbh.

It's definitely crashing.

I can run BG 1 but the widescreen mod isn't working. I can't run BG 2 at all.

you aren't trying to load the game you started before installing are you?

Also the widescreen mod doesn't effect menus, only the game once started.

I can't really help much, as i only installed it for the first time yesterday

The same problem happens when I load through the start menu. I'm going to try a fresh install. I was a bit distracted last night so I could've made an error whilst modding it.

1. Extract TobEx.rar to your Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal installation directory.
2. Run Setup-TobEx.exe created in the installation directory.
3. Follow the on-screen prompts to install, re-install, or uninstall components. ( Install -> Compatibility -> would you like to see the components ( YES ) )
4. Click Install on all of them!
5. Done , run the game as normal via TobExLoader.exe
I've reached this stage of the installation.

I've got the GoG versions of BG1 and BG2 and I'm not sure where my Throne of Bhaal directory is. This is how I've got it set up:

C:\GOG.com\BG\Baldurs Gate
C:\GOG.com\BG\BGII - SoA

Is the ToB directory in BGII - SoA? Might it be called BGT?
