So still no less biased media sources just a bit of what-about-ism….great work.

There is loads of research out there that will show you the BBC is one of the most trusted news sources in the world but you don’t want to hear that because it doesn’t suit your agenda.

Panodrama with John Sweeney disproves that completely. In b4 "I haven't see it".

Happy to admit ‘I haven’t seen it’ also happy to have a link to something that explains it, but the independent research still says the BBC is one of the most trusted media sources in the world and I’m still waiting for the list of less biased media sources…..

Let's just get your opinion for a second.

Do you agree with them collecting the TVL in the form of some tax, broadband, council tax etc, even from those who consume nothing they produce / don't watch live TV?

What about people who don't use streaming services like netflix etc?

I've never subscribed to any streaming service and I have no interest in supporting the BBC.

No I don’t think there are any others that would result in a criminal conviction, but if you want to use any of the features that the TV license covers, you need to pay the TV license.

You can opt out by not using any of the features or services that require the TV license.

The problem is that this (not) 'subscription' insists people pay who genuinely have no interest in watching the programs produced or using any infrastructure supported by the (not) 'subscription'.

Watch a streamed (non-UK terrestrial TV) event live on the internet? You need to pay the BBC tax.

It's a relic from eighty (+) years ago when the only way to practically watch a live event, on a screen, in the UK was to tune into a program broadcast by the BBC.

I see a value in public service broadcasting and one of the most respected broadcasting services in the world. I think it needs reform and cost reduction but I wouldn’t want to see it lost as once it is gone it will never come back.

In one again just simply ask someone, anyone to list all or even 5 less bias media sources than the bbc…once again I won’t hold my breath as despite all the hot air and angst nobody seems to be able to simply evidence the BBC’s apparently rampant bias…

I pay loads of tax for services I’ll never consume, I ain’t going to jail anytime soon but I see the value in that…etc

You could always Google bbc bias reporting if you really wanted to find it, many cases about.

Not only have I linked to that bias many times, I even linked to BBC's own internal reports where they call them self bias and how they have failed to be impartial. I am sure if you search my posts in this thread with the word "bias" the links will pop up. In short BBCs own internal bias investigations found they are bias. To answer your questions here are some of the ones I am aware about.

  • Reuters frequently rated as one of the least-biased major news organisations.
  • Associated Press (AP), one of the most neutral news agencies.
  • Financial Times, its news reporting is widely respected and fact-focused.
  • The Economist, not neutral in the sense of having no viewpoint. It has a broadly liberal, free-market editorial stance. However, it is usually transparent about its opinions and bases arguments heavily on evidence. The BBC is not transparent about its opinions.

The Trump thing made it more main stream that they are bias and false report. They then had to spend millions filling X, insta, tic toc, blue etc with loads of stuff about how they verify things.

The trust was built up but that’s come crashing down. I’m not sure how we can state that it’s still the most respected in the world when there’s so much controversy about it and one of the most powerful men in the world - regardless of how anyone views him. He’s the arguably the most well known person in the world.

They seem to still be in the pre-internet age where they think people can't easily verify what they air. Their reputation has been mud since the Jimmy Saville thing, then they doubled down on it with similar scandals since. I don't think they have much chance of repairing it now.

There is no need for a public broadcaster any more. Barely anyone under 50 actually watches it and it's totally irrelevant for the current generation.

I still don't get why you can't unsubscribe from bbc and just have streaming services. easy enough to make it a package like sport. untick the BBC box no fee to pay. Tick the BBC box and your subscription cost covers the fee. don't know why they still insist on this archaic way of doing things in this digital age.

Aren't we down to something like a hundred free places in prison? It could backfire massively if there is mass non compliance.
Prisons in England and Wales have a capacity of around 70k inmates. In June that figure was 87k people held.

I don't think I've ever known a more out of touch organisation than the BBC. People are literally voting with their wallets, and instead of fixing the problem(s) they're doubling down and talking about people paying via taxation.
It’s not the bbc talking about funding it via taxation it’s the government how can people not differentiate between the two….
