Yes. It will phrased, as it is today, as a "TV license" irrespective of how you consume media. So being forced to pay for something that you don't use?

The only logical direction is a bolt-on to council tax. The idea to add a "tax" to broadband products is for the birds.
Don't you believe it. It operates under a Royal charter. It wouldn't be legal though and it's unlikely they would change the law.
You can't have a company forcing people to pay for something they don't need. Allowing that opens a whole can of worms.
100 percent this.Don't you believe it. It operates under a Royal charter.
Don't get me wrong, I do not have a license and do not consume BBC content. Let i die I say but I can't see that happening. I suspect, there are all sorts of discussions of how to keep it afloat, albeit in a diminished state but if they roll it into tax; that's a nice blag to syphon it off for other public services.
Spoiler alert, you don’t have to cough up anything.Having to cough up an extra 200+ a year for something I don't use.
i took that they thought the extra £200 would be on council tax so no choiceSpoiler alert, you don’t have to cough up anything.
With the greatest respect, but more fool you if you’re paying for something you don’t use.

Putting £200 on council tax for the license fee won't fly with the majority of the public, I mean people see very little for their money (pot holes/public services etc etc) as it is without adding further costs.
The Beeb will have to settle before it gets anywhere near a court I suspect, but, It does show the absolute arrogance of the BBC by letting it get this far.
They had the opportunity to nip this in the bud a while ago but for some insane reason thought it wouldn't get this far.
I'll be very disappointed if the settlement is less than £100M.
They made their own bed, and now it's time to lay in it.
It won't be 200 quid. It will either be a blanket nominal amount, like £50, or tiered based on council tax bands. Remember this will catch all residential properties, whether they currently pay for an existing license or not. That nominal amount will bump every year in line with council tax inflation.Putting £200 on council tax for the license fee won't fly with the majority of the public, I mean people see very little for their money (pot holes/public services etc etc) as it is without adding further costs.

All of these letters are always signed by this Scott Robson... I wonder whether he's even real. The bloke must be pushing 80 by now.
How can one bloke be a 'regional manager' for all regions in the country at once?!![]()
Itll be tiered I expect. It's probably the only way to sell it to the public.
Band A will get a discount, band E (example) will pay pay more.
That way it will get broad support as most people who already pay will be better off.
