looks like the bongs are being purchased by Sky - GenZ will have to pay sky for their love island addiction in 2030, as we will for corrie

bongs are a well known nickname for the ITV news @10 lead-in - although I never watch it my prefered feed are some bites of the c4-news.
BBC news has just become a woke superficial overview of News with the most salacious articles, like a social media feed I'd imagine.

Busted flush.

In his first major public appearance since taking over the BBC six weeks ago, former Google executive Matt Brittin told MPs that the licence fee is "yesterday's model".

I get the argument that if everyone pays it then it will be cheaper, but I still don't feel happy about paying for something I get no use out of. I pay insurance on my cats, that's a bit expensive and lots of people have animals they have insured and some have animals that they cant afford to have insurance for, so can we up council tax so we all get free pet insurance? Sure it sounds silly but its no different to make people pay for something they don't use as it benefits others

Many if us think the same.
Its not like roads where we all use it even if we don't drive
Its not like fire service where you don't use it but might need it one day.

Its an expensive service which is entertainment (why do we all have to pay for soaps and sport coverage?) and optional.

Also, no doubt it'll be able to rise every year and become unaccountable.
If it puts out dross? You can't opt out.

What would happen if you don’t have a tv? Still get taxed if you have a phone.

Of course he wants it on tax, makes his job dead easy.

I recieved a letter the other day from tv lincencing, this is about 2 months after i opted out again

the letter was ripped up and put straight in the bin

Bugger off

If it does get added to tax I will be withholding for as long as possible, sick of this sort of rubbish.
Its coming.

BBC fails or BBC goes into council tax.
Those are the only options. I cannot see a Labour government ever letting it fail.

BBC is no longer what it used to be these days. Just set it up like ITV/C4 etc. Set it up as a commercial company.

We we need the BBC now? Do we need ITV etc too?

Ah, when you correctly identify the correct problem but jump to the wrong conclusion. The BBC is not essential to the country in its current form and can't be set up to never be able to fail.
