TVs high on walls

This is definitely one of my pet peeves.

Sister has just bought her first house and has her TV mounted above a faux fireplace, bottom of TV is probably 1.5m off the ground with the sofa only 2m away.

You sit there and get a sore neck after 15 mins.

Called her a chav dw guys.

I find wall mounted televisions very council estate.
Normally done by people who occupy a badly put together new build, have leased cars along the lines of a RangeRover Evoque, and holiday repeatedly to the same place in Spain on a budget airline carrier.

Just LOL if you're not RealityBiting every time you have a BeefBurger.

e: noobs.

Give her a neck brace for her birthday

How can people watch TV by cricking their necks?

Not a fan on TVs on walls. Esp if they don’t conceal the various cables.
Pretty sure it's mostly a case of form over function, people just do it because it's trendy to have a wall mounted TV and looks "cool".

But yeah as you say, suboptimal viewing angle and bad for you, it's like going to the cinema and demanding the front row xD

Funny you say that I prefer about row 3 or so and only up to about row 6 or 7 in a larger screen.

Looking down even by an inch or so much worse than up by a dozen inches. Like I don't understand the top of bezel at eye line on a desk either.

Our 55" is wall mounted due to the wife wanting it that way. Not too high up either, perfect height. I know a few folk that either have them above fireplaces or really high on the wall and it just looks daft. Sore necks all round.

I used to feel the same way and not like them too high but equally annoying is too low where the arms of chairs and drinks/stuff on coffee tables in front of them get in the way of viewing. I started to over the years go a bit the other way and prefer higher. Also with young kids and stuff higher is good. I tend to mount as high as I can stand. In the kitchen it's high because we stand a lot to view in there and sit on high bar stools, plus the way the sky light windows are they can cast sun through to low parts of the wall.
In our lounge we have it a tiny bit higher than most which gives the centre speaker the ability to shine and be more at ear height. Also.... wii sports lads! We still play the Wii sometimes and obviously stand for it.

The ones that are just uber high do look odd and uncomfortable to me if not angled down.

EDIT: I think generally speaking wall mounting a TV too low can look off as well.

Shot's fired.
I think people with cabinets for TVs are stuck in the 90s, don't have the ability to do basic DIY and are lazy. ;)

Width x Height x Skirting x Paint Colour x Dado rail x Besta x Direction of Floor = Perfect for us pal.

Cream unit combined with magnolia skirting x cobalt blue [instead of powder blue] backlighting x watching a cooking program before dinner x onscreen porcelain butter dish x taking portrait mode photo of landscape mode television x Easter Island [or something] statue when inhabitants died off x breeze block in display cabinet is not perfect for everyone, pal.

You realise you can set the TV on the wall with the right eye level. Wall mounting doesn't exclusively mean mounting it high!

True but if you wall mount it at a sensible height then there's no real point wall mounting it aside from the aforementioned "cool" factor.
