Two must see Warhammer Online Vids...

I found this to reminded me of GW, couldn't really get into the PVP too, just seems too much of a zergfest.

It does look zergy in the video, but then again, for the first 4/5 months after release Daoc was zergy. Yet ask people now which MMO had the best pvp and they usually say Daoc (or sometimes UO/AC), I'm expecting similar development from WAR

Great link, this explained a lot for me.

One thing that got me wondering was this:

If your enemy is constantly killing you then they are going to have Victory Points, more land, better skills, cooler looking characters, and you’re going to feel like a dirty little squig for sucking. In World of Warcraft no one cares how well your faction does. If you all suck in the battlegrounds it has no impact on the world around you.

How will this work in practice, if one side starts doing much better arn't they going to continue to get stronger and then the other side will just have no hope of catching up and will get further and further behind?

on 1 sided servers...yes, it sounds like a game that, initially atleast (they will cave into whiners, devs always do) 1 faction will dominate the other

Watching a Warcraft Podcast earlier they explained it as they cannot punish players for being good as that would be silly, they will however boost the oppositions XP gaining level, better rewards but only in the PvE environment.

Similar to what they did in Daoc, where the "losing" sides got additional benefits

Indeed, it would be wrong to punish the good team. I was just worried that if the loosing team started getting to far behind it would get to the point where there was no longer any point in trying.

Must admit I do like the animation in WoW, now if only they would get rid of the arenas and instanced pvp and go back to a more world pvp orientated game (preferably with keeps and objectives to capture in every zone, and also capturable zones, so that there was actually a point to raiding crossroads etc) then I might have stayed with WoW instead of looking elsewhere for a pvp mmo.

They are adding and altering the animations in WAR in the coming weeks just before release so hopefully that will make combat seem more fluid. Don't let that deter you from the game ;) (they are also fixing a host of other issues people have found while playing in the preview weekend which is good news).

It looks nothing like AV, the only similarities is the fact its two opposing factions battling it out on a large scale. I have no idea what the cap is on RvR yet, i dont even think their is a cap.

Don't believe there is a cap in place. I know people have been involved in battles with like 300-400 people on the screen and they reported that it ran pretty damn smooth :)

whilst the ops vids were nice to see what was what but not showing much gameplay the other one made me think, oh what the hell, lets give this one a try

Worry not, at this point, nothing will deter me from the game, been in the beta since feb/march and its been some of the best pvp fun I've had since my 3 years in daoc back in the early 2000s :)

I have known that this game was coming for a while now but I haven't really looked into it that much until today and from what I am reading and watching I think that this is going to be the MMO that gives WoW a real run for its money. I'm looking forward to playing it for sure!

anyone know what servers people are playing on, or have the server names not yet been disclosed (probably better asked in the "official" thread, oh well)

Who cares about the graphics, the War combat looks so clunky and crap compared to the fluid system World of Warcraft has.

From the replies on here, lots of people care about the graphics. WAR supposedly has a base 1.4 sec GCD compared to WoWs base 1.5 (yes ignoring a few classes which can lower this to 1 sec) so the clunky combat, as you put it, is an animation issue only rather than a response issue.

I haven't played but from all the vids I've seen people stand still while fighting - that's not good.

Although I'm sure its because they are noobs and not a problem with the game.

Server names haven't been released/confirmed yet. I will be playing on any of the open servers however if anyone wants to join me.

personally i'm getting WAR mainly because of RvR, Daoc was the better PvP/RvR i have played since UO and the fact that the game is mainly built around PvP turns me on :p

Wow is crap in mean of content(wtf do you do beside raiding the same old crap at high level), i hope WAR will have better content and seeing the RvR side of it i think it will be better, but that is a personal opinion.

Everyone MMO has some aspect of standing still, wouldn't be fair to have every spell that you cast viable to use when your running around. Its just something you have to try out yourself i guess.

Warcraft was basically the same except many many people took advantage of the casting lag which resulted in people casting say .5 of a second early and jumping out of it.
