Type R and VTEC owners

Well you do cover a lot of miles? A 1.6 Focus would be better overall than a DC2 in those circumstances, but it's not a better car.

When I had both, I think I was doing about 5000 miles per year.

Why lol? Have you owned both for a long period of time? I feel I'm in a better position than most to make judgement.

Sure, the DC2 is the better drive, it revs harder and longer, the gearbox is better. But overall when you're making progress on UK roads, the ATR's suppleness soaked up the bumps better and it was miles better on long distances.

So my random car changing continues.

In hindsight buying the Audi was a stupid idea. The trader gave me a trade in value of £500 less than I paid for it a few months ago so it could have been worse. Close to £10k up in the bank as well now.

Sure the interior is not the same quality, but I really enjoyed driving it. Has a reversing camera too, I think it has every single option ticked.

It's immaculate apart from a small chip on the bonnet which the trader is sorting for me.

Reversing camera. Still laughing at that.

Just have to work out if my iPod will plug into the unit or not, if not I may get another system installed.

Buys Audi, insisting better choice than F10, then decides to consider F10 again but trades Audi for a Honda. I don't think anyone saw that coming

Surprised you went for a petrol Accord though?

It's a 2.2 diesel.

I decided the £10k would be better off in a savings account rather than on a heavily depreciating exec car (due to 20k + per year).

Fox, my car choices never make sense.

The Mk8 Accord came with two power levels for the 2.2 DTEC engine, 150 and 180. I think the 180 was Type S only. Can the 150 be mapped to give the power of the Type S at all? I've seen adverts offering over 200 bhp but I think 180 would be more sensible.

The thing is, I will be doing 400 miles a week in the car so I don't want to have any reliability issues. I've seen some plug in ones for sale which push it up to 185. Need to get the car first and see how I cope with it.

Yeh you can get near 200bhp with the DPF removed and an aggressive remap, it should be fine, the main issue with these cars is the DPF, getting that removed is the main thing, 180bhp should be fine and is more sensible.

I'll do some more reading, but yeah I think 180 would be fine versus over 200 like some other companies quote.

Guess DTEC resolved the clutch issues of iCTDi?

I think early ones had a problem according to Honest John, but the clutch in the one I I'm getting is fine, no slipping and no history of any issues from what I could see, so I think it's unaffected.
