Type R and VTEC owners

I have just bought an 03 shadow black ep3 type R and I am loving it! :D

Just moved back to the UK after expatting for 7 yeas. One of the first things I did was walk into arnold clark, test drive a new st3 and apply for finance. But seeing as we have been back for less than a week the girl said the computer would 100% say no to finance, and I really don't want to splurge having just moved with the costs and all that.

The very same evening I spotted an 03 type r in shadow black and test drove it the next day and bought it straight away for under 2 grand. Will post non portato pics soon. The engine is tight, vtect kicks in fine, but the throttle was sticking and the idle was going up and down. I cleaned the throttle body and both issues are fixed.

My plan is to daily drive it for the next year or so and then get it track ready.

It came with some rather pokey black alloys which I want to replace, and I want to get the front bumper resprayed as there are more than a few stone chips. Also would like to put a new exhaust on.

Any good second hand parts resellers I should look at apart from ebay?

Congrats. It's Nighthawk Black by the way.

This is what a little over 4 and a half grand gets you.

Why did Chalky leave that Teg sat at TGM for so long? I kept seeing it there every time I visited!

It's only been there a few weeks, it's been sat outside his house for ages. His council threatened to tow it not too long ago.

That DC5 seems too cheap, and things are usually cheap for a reason.

Please explain what's wrong with it? :p

Why is it 'too' cheap? It doesn't have an MOT, the brakes need fixing and the paintwork needs a good clean and mop. Normal 2001 car with similar mods would go for around £7-8k depending on mileage. I think I paid a fair price for it.

I've had an update from TGM, all seems well with the car. It's been serviced, cleaned, the lip, bonnet and spoiler have been painted or are in the process.

Just ordered some Bilstein B16's, Rota (fake Rays - private joke) Fighter in bronze and Federal 595 RSR to go on, should hopefully be able to pick the car up next week.

Some more pics.

New front brake kit fitted with Pagid RS29 pads and TGM lines all round. Tom's put some race car wheels on the front on as the standard wheels need 15mm spacers. On the shopping list.

Front arches have had a quick mop, paint is coming up well. The red bonnet isn't mine, my CF one is getting fixed/painted so it needs something on it for the time being.

Not much wrong with that teg for that price.

Not like mileage matters to a Honda engine but how many is on the clock?

66k showing, how much of that is in miles and km I don't know, I need to speak to the previous owner soon anyway to sort out the private plate transfer once it's been MOT'd so will check then.

I do believe it was converted upon import so most likely all miles.

What's with all the wires in the engine bay? They look like lots of earth points.

It's an earthing kit that someone probably made a load of money off back in the day, loads of people bought them. I'll most likely remote it as well as the power connecter to the amp and all of that. I don't need more than a headunit and working front speakers.

Cheers guys. TGM are away racing at Brno this weekend so no updates till next week. Fingers crossed it's ready for Friday so I'll get updates then.
