Type R and VTEC owners

It's the left hand kink as it goes properly down hill where I am lifting but I know I can probably go into 5th and use full throttle. Great challenge, will be nice to go again.

That down hill part is correct to accelerate, just confidence building, old hairpin though you have it nailed as you can get through there a good 10mph quicker if you use the curb like you are in the videos. Though from your video it looks like they have improved the curbs at old hairpin and coppice so got me eager to get back there in the M3 as for me craners and coppice is where I leave a couple of seconds on the table as I play safe and avoided curbs previously.

Right guys,

Here's how my engine bay is looking at the moment. The rocker cover lets it down massively so I've decided to get it refurbished. Any suggestions what colour I should go for? I was thinking either a metallic black or bmw graphite grey to match the charger?

Spooner is a nice guy but when he first started doing rocker covers, well, they weren't that good. Is he better now?

Have seen a few of the ones he's done now before they've gone on, look pretty spot on to me and I only ever see good feedback about him.

He's been doing them for a few years now and every one rave's about him now. Have a look at his facebook page for his recent works :)

He did mine, I'll dig out a photo of it later. Very happy with his work! This was about 4 years ago, still looks the same as the day I fitted it.

They last a lot longer if you don't pick a 'crinkle' finish on the cam cover. I went for a deep cherry finish (unsure of the name), with a dark grey crinkle on the plug cover. Looks very nice in the engine bay.

I would use him again in a heartbeat.

I've read some horror stories in the past from American forums where people have powdercoated the WHOLE of the cam cover. Fitted it back on and then the heat obviously eats down the paint on the inside and it clogs up the engine :D

Wat.

Defies belief!

Hi guys,
Long story short my focus is reaching the end of it's pcp deal in January, and rather than pay off the remainder I'm going to shift the car on and use the money I had set aside to buy a £6k car and redo my kitchen.

Basically the FN2 is at the top of my list, seems like £6k should get something reasonable. I fancy having a VTEC engine as everything else seems to be going the way of the turbocharger.

My main question was how is the audio system in the GT version of the car? Is bluetooth a standard thing and dose it have an Aux input?

I feel like the main thing I will miss from my current car is the ability to play music off my phone. The main concern is that head units look like a pain in the **** to change.

No bluetooth and no aux input unless it's 2009+ I think.. but not sure - if it has one it'll be in the centre console, although some owners have got the Connects2 kit which goes into the back of the head unit to give an aux port.

£110 for a double din compatible facia and wiring kit.
It's not actually that bad to change according to guides.

I'm living on a "TECEVO Bluetooth 4.0 Handsfree Car Kit" (Google it and you'll see the one) connected inside the center console, has buttons to skip tracks etc.

GT version made no difference to audio.

And £6k is a very reasonable budget for FN2 these days.

Ah well, I might have to invest in a stereo upgrade and get a sat-nav android type unit.

I'm a little surprised as I'm sure my mate had his ipod or iphone connected to his nativity somehow back when that shape civic first came out (it wasn't a type R, but some variant of the 1.4) and he had that from new about 10 years ago.

I hadn't realized they had got so cheap until i looked recently, I guess they are quite a marmite car, many people I know absolutely despise the look of the car, I think they look awesome.
I guess the FN2 has also had a lot of stick for being worse than the EP3, but all the negatives seem to be how it isn't as raw or brutal a the EP3 which seems fine to me as I want a usable daily which I can have some fun in at the weekends when I take to the B roads to visit my parents.
The lack of independent rear suspension doesn't seem like it would be a problem as I'll not be going on a race track anyway.

FN2 had the worst audio I've had in a car to date. Paper thin speakers. I replaced the OEM with a double din unit, upgraded the door speakers with an amped pair as well. Plenty of hiding spaces so you don't need to see anything.
