Type R Showdown

DC5 will be quicker than them all, I should imagine.

Civic's are quicker than DC2's in a straight line - the lack of LSD on the Civic will be a downfall on the track, espcially on the twister stuff - so it'd be close.

Accord's more powerful but heavier IIRC?

Personally, I'm not sure I could go back to a FWD car without a diff...they make a huge difference.

Having owned a DC2, I would say without a doubt the DC2 was faster than all the Civic I ever tracked and straight lined with.

From driving almost all the cars bar the DC5 and from all my Honda track days I would say

DC2/DC5 ( just not sure which one would be faster to be honest )
Civic EP
EK9
Accord

It depends, on a track I'd say DC5, DC2, Civic, then Accord. And probably very similar in a straight line. If I remember rightly although more powerful the ATR is slower 0-60 than the CTR...it is a big car after all.

(once again) Evo quote 6.1 for the ATR and 6.8 for the civic. Although I know 0-60 doesnt count for much. I reckon the ATR is faster in a straight line than the civic.

EK9's are quick to 60, but not too hot on a track standard from test reports.

DC2's weigh just over 1000kg... i think they are 1050.

I think Im going to take a massive loan out, buy all of them, then hire out castle combe and have a proper showdown. Anyone care to participate??

I'd have thought that as well, but reading old reviews where the DC2 has been beaten by other stuff I'm not so sure :/.

I know different tracks and models but a 172 beat (by 0.00000 of a second or something) a teg in a top gear test round a track.

A Civic Type R beat a 182 by 0.00000001 around a track on fifth gear.

I deffo think we need someone to settle this once and for all on a track day :)

Still can't make my mind up about the EK9, as a road car it's aparently not great and actually does live up to the vtec myth of "you have to rag it to get anything from it" apparently (most other vtecs I've found are fine low down and just get a nice boost later on :) ) BUT on a track that's exactly what you'll be doing.

Here's the article I had, glad it's still hosted :)

Copycat :P

My friend DC5 was pretty great when I had a ride, the noise and the way it flew up to the redline ;)

It's every blokes dream, like having your own little race car. Love mine to bits, only thing I'd sell it for would be an NSX.

Mmmmmmm - NSX.

/dribbles. :o

I know a guy with a 3 litre NsX, it shakes my house when he drives it. I cry a little inside:(
