Well there seems to have been a spate of tyre slashing as of late in our street,

in the last week alone 8/9 cars have had tyres slashed (4 at a time) as usual local plod couldnt care less. Thankfuly so far we have been untouched by this but I feel its just a matter of time :( and with the arrival of the LCR i dont want to be shelling out for 4x225/40/18's (god knows the stock 195/65/15's on the audi and octavias would be bad enough.

anyone suggest some suitable detterent to these mindless neds and no sleeping in the car with a big stick isnt on the cards

Not much you can do i'm afraid.

Park your car in the safest place possible? Have a sensor light (if on a drive) that comes on if anyone gets close.

Take the tyres off a night? :D

Snipers?

Camera on your car so if it DOES happen you have evidence?

With the broken window thread the other day it wouldn't be hard to come to the conclusion that you live in the ghetto :D

tis true Olly although we did get the insurance on the LCR down to 590 a year FC for me and wifey :) not bad for the east end of Glasgow i guess, unfortunately the cars are all parked on road (apart from the octavias which tend to be out working unless they've weent bang.

according to some report in one of the tabloids last year I live in the most deprived area in scotland :)

Put some big metal discs over the wheels, so they cant get to the tyres, or diga pit round your car with big spikes in it so they fall in.

or take the wheels inside with you.

ive never stabbed a tyre but ive ran over glass, skateboards, footballs, kids, hedgehogs etc with no damage. How easy is to slash a tyre? :S

very easy it seems ibot, theres been 8/9 cars done here in the last couple of weeks (thats just in our street)

cctv is problematic and theres the legal issues of advising the scroates their being filmed.

handily enough the father in law is a cctv installer but its a lot of hassle

how about a sign in your side window saying "smile, you're on camera!"

solves:
a) notifying the little scrotes that they're being filmed, and;
b) possibly a big deterrant

You might not even have to bother with installing a camera...

The cops will probably say you'll have to seek consent from the perps before filming them committing a crime

no doubt they will lean on the car, so hook up the body work to a massive battery so they get a nice big electric shock :)

Better to run an inverter circuit/voltage multiplier off to a nice transformer? DC won't do much at all to them from what little I remember of my Electronics BTEC :p...

Exercise your right to use reasonable force to protect your person and your property.

Remember when they have a knife, you can get away with a lot more inside "reasonable force".
