u21 england squad racially abused

Ferguson's stance won backing from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who said: "If they (black players) do not join in, that makes the campaign not credible."

To be fair, with the paltry punishments dished out for race related incidents and the English FA being charged over the Serbian event, the campaign has already lost its credibility.

I agree, seems Rio didn't either and he "will be dealt with, don't worry about that"

Fair play to Rio for not wearing it if it's not something he believes in any longer, how dare Fergie 'deal' with him because he's not happy with racism action in the game.

Terrible attitude from fergie :(

Typical fergie if you ask me, I'd be surprised if Rio plays for man u again

Id prefer to justs see a 'Respect' campaign come in.

Thats respect for all humans and individuals. No matter if you wear black, are black, are fat thin, tall, small. No matter if your linesman, goalkeeper etc.

Chris kirkland wasnt black but got pushed to the face. How about we just respect all players and not have incidents like that?

The referees arent black but they get called all match long. They get disrespected most of the game. Perhaps if the black and white players showed some respect and set an example here?

Rooney isnt black but gets called a fat *******, hardly right is it?

Both are physical descriptors i.e colour or size. How about we just make it fair for everyone without picking out one group?

I agree with you, I once took my godson to a boro game when he was 7. The abuse was amazing, even levelled at their own players. Most notably yak. Hell would have to freeze over before I took my own son to a football match on that level.

How can you expect kids to grow up and respect people of all types of differences when they see adults setting the bar so low. Why any parent would take their children to listen to half that **** I will never understand.

Indeed. Just because you have paid to go to a football game does it mean you should leave your manners at home?

What were they singing to steve n Taylor?

Significant numbers of home fans at the Stadium of Light repeatedly sang "We wish you were dead" towards the Newcastle United defender as the teams warmed up before kick-off, again when he warmed up on the sidelines and when he came on in the 80th minute.

Northumbria Police also confirmed they were investigating an allegation of racist abuse directed at the black Newcastle players. A spokesman said: "There was one report of racist language having been used by a supporter in one area of the stadium – enquiries into this report are ongoing."

But how come they are only investigating the single racist chant?

The absurdity continues:

European football governing body Uefa has decided to appeal against sanctions imposed by its own disciplinary body on Serbia and England's Under-21 players.

EDIT - Apologies, misunderstood the appeal.
