Uber eats

After i had paid out for another takeaway because of their call saying its cancelled? I lost money because of their mistake?

You ate the meal, you should have said "I was advised this meal was cancelled, therefore I do not wish to take this meal as I have already eaten a new meal and I'm full up, I don't expect to be charged for this"

true - but if you phoned to cancel they wouldn't try deliver it....maybe hadn't even started making it if only ordered 5 mins beforehand

tbh if I received a pizza and big mac when i was drunk i'd prob attempt to make some horribble concoction with the two

I did try to cancel on the just eat app but it said too late. Meh, maybe i am being petty about this situation but im still annoyed that uber cocked up.

Just email them and explain, you should have a record of the call on your phone so you can state the exact time you were called with the cancellation.

If they tell you to do one, there's not a lot you can do.

Something I’ve noticed with Uber eats. First they charge you a lot more for the food due to them putting their own inflated charges on. I know this because the kebab shop I order from usually charges me £6.50 for a large doner meat and chips but same meal on Uber eats is close to £10.
Not only that if you cancel the order through the app it charges you £15
Now not sure if it’s just through the app or if you call and cancel and they do it free of charge assuming there is a number to call.

Personally I stopped using Uber eats, I’d rather walk the 15 mins or take my car.

What? What does it matter that i accepted it? They phoned me to say the order was cancelled so i paid someone else to deliver me food. If i refuse it at the door surely they would have charged me.

No they wouldn't. Don't know why you keep assuming that. By accepting the extra food you no longer wanted why would they ever refund you? Such self entitlement.....

Simply because their mistake means i have ordered elsewhere and have lost money as a result. How can you not understand my point?

because you didn't refuse the food and say sorry I've now ordered elsewhere like any other normal person would. You were greedy and accepted it anyway in the hope that you could complain and get it for free. How do you not understand why they are saying no to a refund.... you took the food.

Yeahhh agreeing with everyone else here. Not sure how you thought you'd get a refund by accepting the food. At least if you'd rejected it and they billed you for it, you could easily show you had a phone call from them telling you it was cancelled, but it turned up so you refused delivery.

Even if you take food out of the equation, say you've ordered something online. If you cancel it after it's been dispatched they'll usually tell you to refuse delivery so it goes straight back to sender. You don't accept the item and then say where's my refund because I cancelled the order.
