UbiSoft servers down today = No single player gaming

Having had a look in the link posted for Ubi's Silent Hunter 5 Forums, I must say I am rather perturbed to note that they're asking people to call support to log the issue. Correct me if I'm wrong, but would this be a billable call to an 087 or 090 number? If so, the cynic in me would call this nothing short of a rather disgusting use of their own problems for a cash grab from customer's they've already screwed once.

Copyed from that link
At around 8am GMT, people began to complain in the Assassin's Creed 2 forum that they couldn't access the Ubisoft servers and were unable to play their games. Fast forward ten hours and it seems that the problem still hasn't been resolved, despite the assurances from a Ubisoft representative that the servers were 'constantly monitored'
10 hours and the problem still not been fixed...
on a sunday when most people will want to and have time to play there new game as well..

That crazy...

There's no subscription involved with the games so they probably don't have the manpower set up that you would find in say an MMO for this sort of thing. Afterall, they've already got your money :p

I suppose that there is something in the EULA that allows them to stop you playing the game you paid for with no repercussions?

There usually is. But i'm pretty sure the response from everyone who bought it is '**** you then i'll pirate everything you release from now on' so they lose out in the end.

Why does everyone find it so funny that they still can't find a way to stop pc piracy? At least they are trying.

Steam tried and have the best DRM to date in my opinion. These guys are not trying, they are being idiots. They are pushing away real customers to stop a few pirate copiess. Cutting off ones nose to spite ones face comes to mind.

Hear, hear! I won't be buying Ubisoft titles until they are either DRM free or cost a couple of quid in 3 years in a Steam special. I have no qualms about saying I shall obtain them in the meantime via alternative methods. (Like renting on a console... hehehe.)

Lol? My pet Rabbit could've told Ubisoft that this awesome new DRM wasn't going to do anything but backfire and increase piracy. I'll give a dev kudos for trying when they try something that isn't retarded.
