Ubuntu 7.10?

2 Days to go!!... Gonna Prep my machine for the weekend!!.. Re-Format my 20Gb slave (its blank at the mo but NTFS) and dual boot (The Wife still likes XP)...
lol I've never managed to get my missus away from Windows which is fair enough - I don't think I'd have the time and patience to "convert" her.. Windows does everything she needs and I get free Microsoft software so why change it just "because"..?!

I'm hoping with the imminent release of Fedora 8 I may be able to swing it though, will see ;)

Ive got my copy pre ordered, Last ubuntu version I had hands on expeirence with was 6.06, but it didnt have out of the box network support, but from the times i had it ethernetted in i was satisfied with it.

While still dabbling with Linux I've switched to Mint as it suits my laptop well and is even easier to get moving with than Ubuntu, in my opinion.

What you say about it been easier is true, but from what i saw of it when i installed it on my friends old laptop, some stuff for ubuntu doesnt work with it. Wine is not very good on it for example.

The only thing I use Windows for these days is stability testing for my overclocks and gaming. I haven't done any gaming for months and I only overclock when I get new kit.

u don't like using prime under linux? i find it's a bit harsher clock for clock than in windows and i need slightly more vcore in linux.

1 day to go, i guess i'm excited :) pretty happy with 7.04 tbh

Saw an article that said that Canonical have beefed up their servers and bandwidth to cope with the expected demand. I reckon they're gonna get hammered for a few days. Ubuntu has easily become the most preferred distro amongst my Linux-using friends.

The problem isn't stressing software, it is temperature monitoring and hardware monitoring. Maybe it is just my mobo but I have never, ever been able to reliably monitor my CPU/HDD/GPU temps in Linux. Also, as far as I know Linux doesn't have CPUz :D

Its up!!!!...

Downloading NOW!!!
Damn Work Connection... its gonna take 1hr 37mins (110-130kbps) :( (:D)

Kubuntu's not ready yet though!!

lm-sensors has almost always worked for me with my boards and you can get gpu temps with a NV card from the drivers - not sure about ATI

btw there's a core-temp module for lm-sensors now too in the latest kernel(s)

but yeh cpu-z is a no go, never tried it under wine though heh

Currently getting this, looking forward to it. Been dual booting Ubuntu with xp and i have to say on my laptop there really isn't much need for me to boot into xp. Now that 7.10 is out i shouldn't have as many problems with resolutions and native WPA support, don't think i'll need to boot back into xp for a while.
