Ubuntu 7.10?

If you have to ask, probably 32-bit.

Although 64-bit is well supported in Linux and it runs 32-bit apps just fine.

It's taken me 10mins just to find a mirror with a decent speed.

Thought I would share my link as I wasn't having much luck with the ones on the ubuntu site: http://mirror.arndnet.de/ubuntu-7.10-desktop-amd64.iso

Chris.
Thanks for the link, I changed over after the mirror I was on slowed to ~10KB/s.

If anyone else tries this mirror be aware it regularly stalls for several minutes at a time then resumes. While running it maxes out my connection at 232KB/s :)

Been using the RC since it came out, it's much quicker than 7.04 :)

And much cleaner than my messed up install that I did upgrade...

solid 230kb/sec from the link celliott posted :D
Wonder if i'll be as suprised as i was when i first tried 7.04 after being a fedora follower.

Xubuntu is ready as well, but it's being hammered and I can't get a link :(
(Yeh I know I said I was going to wait for the next LTS version but I'm a little more confident with Ubuntu now so ........ :D )

/goes to search for a working link

Should I use the same apt: command to get DVD's and MP3's working as I did in 7.04 or is there a new one??

wow 7.10 seems a pretty big improvement over 7.04 in terms of speed on the desktop.

i've always had compiz-fuzion working 100% but it's much much smoother/faster under 7.10.

AWN seems to work more efficiently too.

I am about halfway through the upgrade - should be done in half an hour.

Does AWN come with the upgrade, or have you added it yourself? Last time I used AWN it was more trouble than it was worth.

Nice. Will try it again once I have upgraded. Although generally I find myself getting bored with things like AWN.

Compiz-Fusion is genuinely useful and hard to replace. AWN just a cool-looking taskbar.
