Granted but how could we have envisioned our injury list being so big and our inconsistent performances in the league due to fatigue with all of the games.

We all have to appreciate that EH is about 2-3 seasons ahead of where anyone thought we would end up and are a victim of our own success with the majority of players overperforming. I think if we're being realistic a good run in the Carabao/FA would appease the fans whilst we bolster the squad in the interim.

I've never understood it when people were happy to be out of Europe, the only way to up your coefficient and get experience is by staying in competitions, plus you get extra money too. I think the route into the champs league has helped the Europa league though as you don't see English teams putting out kids and getting knocked out in the qualifiers now.

Prize money, better sponsorships and the ability to attract better quality players. Better to struggle on.

Back in the 90's and early 2000's Newcastle played in Europe almost every year. The champs league adventures were amazing and the ground was pumping as it has been this year but man the Uefa cup games were flat and played to half or 3/4 full stadiums on a Thursday night. Sometimes it felt like a chore going even when we had a good team. Sunday league games messed up the weekend too. We had some great away trips but I dont think todays fans have the sort of cash spare these days to take a couple of days off work to go swanning off to some baltic state on a Thursday morning.
I'm disappointed we lost, don't get me wrong but with a squad short of real quality and experience outside the starting 11, a stuttering league form of late and two huge domestic cup games coming up the season is not over. Far from it :)

Have to be given chances some stage and this is probably safest game to do it in tbf.

Doak has shown promise in past, if anything so far im more disappointed in Elliott and Jones
true enough, but having Bradley/Doak and Chambers/Gordon is a bit of an ask. Would hve prefered to see either both fullbacks with senior players in front of them, or the young attackers with senior fullbacks.

Lovely finish by Quansah, 1-1
