UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 18th Feb 2021]

Thats what you get for trusting pundits eh. Upamecano has been a bit **** today as well so it made sense.

PSG unsurprisingly beating Barca. If Barca aren't careful they will end up like United for the next decade.

After the first ten minutes we never looked like we lost grip of the match, some good back and forth but ultimately dominated. Still relied on two massive mistakes to score though

Good to win at least though and see Klopp smile

Barca really have become a total shadow of there former selves also been managed so poorly from top to bottom.

They had the best youth system in the world for a while and a golden generation that dominated world football for a few years. They never planned for the future.

Their recent recruitment has been a joke. Overpaying for players that don't fit into the style of play that the team has played for decades and never changed enough personnel to do anything different.

Leipzig still aren't out of this. They are very much a hot and cold team. When they click they are very dangerous and tonight they simply didn't step up to the plate. Could still be a good game at Anfield.

At Anfield...you sure about that? Looks like it wont be there unfortunately.

I think we should be going through comfortably with a 2 nil lead personally.

Not a bad performance all in all. Leipzig had their chances but you're going to get that when you play a good side and even more so when you've got a makeshift defence but it was a very controlled performance and you felt we had another gear to go into had we needed to as the game went on.

I've said it before but I really like Curtis Jones. Such a mature performance from a 20 year old that's learning a new(ish) position on the job. He's got a bit of everything about him and at the moment we're seeing neat and tidy football but he's got the physical attributes to really dominate games too.

Nothing official has been said yet but yea, it looks like it'll have to be moved to a neutral ground due to travel restrictions for Leipzig. It's mad that both games could be played at neutral venues and a side could lose on away goals :/

Yup that and far too dependant on Messi

Barca still have an amazing academy. Their issues are mostly down to a lack of direction at the top leading to them making lots of bad decisions which have caught up with them as Messi's (and Suarez's) powers have waned.

The way Barca play today is so different to the way they played for the previous 15+ years, even before Messi. They've become a reactionary club and often end up putting square pegs in round holes. They need a reset and maybe Messi leaving will enable them to do that - it'll certainly give them a bit of relief financially to plan for the future at least.
