UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [1st - 3rd November 2022]

They did but it was intentional. The new system is meant to draw a line at the furthest forward point of the defender and show the parts of the body of the attacker which were offside - in this case the line goes through his shoulder, showing his head and top part of his arm were in an offside position.

What was shocking was the time it took. The technology is meant to be instant, with the VAR only needing to check if the forward was active or not.
Just said they had technical issues with Var for the Napoli got but sorted it out and made the right call. Showing var issues can be sorted, unlike the PL var with its blind spots

Obvious we'd beat the best form team in Europeon football tonight wasnt it?
From what i saw, Napoli well in control 1st half. They look so comfortable with the ball, particularly at the back. I didnt watch the 2nd half i must add.

Reminded me of Italy vs England at the euros - perfect passing, flicks, controls. No panicking, never smashing it clear.

If Napoli carry on, it will take some team to beat them.

You can't compare with the PL as they're not using this automated technology - the VAR has to manually decide when the ball is played and plot the furthest forward point of the attacker and defender for the lines to be drawn. And it wasn't just the Napoli goal that took forever, the Nunez goal took an age too, as have other offside calls in the CL this season.

I'm not sure what the issue is because the tech is meant to be almost instant.

They were "well in control" in the first half at all lol.

They remind me of the Atlanta team that did really well in the CL for a few seasons, Napoli just have big game changers in their team with Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia.

Does anybody know who officially was credited with our 1st goal? BT have it down as Salah but I was sure the header from Nunez was over the line to begin with.
