UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [2nd - 4th November 2021]

It's hard to call it a GK **** up tbh. It's more on the defence for ball watching and leaving Illicic unmarked. De Gea sees it very late and it goes through Shaw's legs. Far from an easy save.

Are you kidding? De Gea was down at the ball, if he saw it late he wouldn't have got his hands to it at all. It's 100% a GK **** up, has to do better.

De Gea has done well lately. Sure he's a bit slow off his line for me but 1 mistake in X amount of games is passable.

Compare it to the number if Maguire pogba mistakes etc..

He clearly moves his hand towards the ball, probably instinct but regardless. You cant not give handball there.

Come on now. His hand movement changes the direction of the ball and means he can pass the ball to Ronaldo. He moves his hand towards the ball, instinct more then likely but still, he does it.

This is the issue with dissecting the entire phase of play based on a second gif. Watching the phase of play and under the current laws/rules of the game it isn’t handball. Common sense as well should come into decisions like that.

As I mentioned, it’s better that we don’t get goals ruled out for that. Likewise it would frustrate me if a defender was penalised and a penalty was awarded for that - they did change it so it was that way and EVERYONE hated it. It was swiftly changed.

Watch it how you like, you cant deny his arm moves unnaturally towards the ball changing the direction and allowing him to make the pass that led to the goal.

It will be interesting to see what sort of team we put out tonight. Saturday's performance showed how desperate we are to have at least one of Fabinho or Thiago back in the side but with one foot already in the next round and a tricky game on Saturday, I wonder whether Klopp might leave them both out and maybe even rest VVD again.

I think he'll start Konate and Matip, Gomez didn't train yesterday but I haven't seen any injury news about him?

Can see one of the 2 starting the game and getting a half along side Jones and Ox, although I wouldn't mind seeing Morton thrown in and given a chance tbh

Jones is just back from injury and has played nearly 250 minutes over 3 games, he needs a rest.

Ox shouldn't be playing based on his current form but alongside Henderson and Fabinho he'll have less work to do so might be ok. Certainly wouldn't be giving him more than 60 minutes if he starts or 30 minutes if he's a sub.

Wouldn't mind throwing Morton in the deep end alongside Henderson and Fabinho, kid's looked ok in the two games we've seen him. Just hope we don't rush Thiago back, I'm not his biggest fan but he's the best we've got alongside the other two.

Edit: 5th time lucky posting this :o

Surprised at hendo to be fair, thought hes looked knackered in our last 5 odd games - decent against man utd but then again they are probably the worst organised team we've played all season.

Hoping for a good game anyways :)
