UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [3rd - 5th May 2022]

Depends if you want Liverpool to win! For me things like that only help the opposition get even more motivated, like Modric mentioned when Croatia played England in the Semi final of the Euros.

Its not like he's insulted Madrid. Its more of a revenge thing and playing City all the time.

It shouldnt matter anyway, we should win comfortably.

Media making out like this was one of the all time great CL games. It was pretty rubbish until the 90th minute and then it was exciting for like 10 minutes.

Games wasn’t even close to being the best this year. Ref was dodgy as well.

At least we get a “European final” now though.

Surely we all want that. The whole country will unite behind Liverpool. An hour before kick off there will be a public service announcement on all terrestrial TV channels where they'll play you'll never walk alone.

A Liverpool win could actually put all the division in this county to bed. Fingers crossed anyway.

All the fans that constantly moan about poorly run and owned teams should want liverpool to win. :p Although of course if it was Everton about to do the quad (win four games on the trot) I probably wouldn't feel like that!

With City having played through ET and lost, Newcastle must eyeing up nicking some points on Sunday - City will be more physically and mentally drained than they'd want to be leading into a game with a Newcastle team with some recent form and confidence.

Perhaps I've just been too long away from the game, but I imagine most of the football loving country (outside of the obvious rivals) will be well behind Liverpool, especially given the circumstances surrounding the quad.

What's you're take on that btw? You're one of the more level headed posters around here, even with regards Liverpool and I've not seen you discuss it as of yet (though I could have missed it).

I've taken the **** out of the pool over the years but it would be incredible to see a team do the quadruple in our lifetime. Plus, I absolutely despise City and everything they stand for.

I think most people like Liverpool and the way they play, my point was saying things like that can have a nasty habit of biting you on the arse - not too dissimilar first quote :o

Really hope Liverpool win and they should just like Man City should have beaten them ( based on before a ball had been kicked)

If it were Utd in the CL final (don't laugh) then there's not a chance in hell that I'd want them to win. I was taking the **** with my post.

Most Utd, Everton and probably City fans will be desperate for us to lose. You'll then have your neutral club fans split between wanting us to win and some bitter ones hoping we lose because if their club is rubbish they don't want another club to win. They can tolerate Real winning as they don't get to see them being happy.

I dislike Liverpool immensely, mostly due to their fans over the years. Unbearable when they weren't even winning anything. I want them to lose the champs league final and I want them to come second in the league. As much as I dislike the City ownership there's no history to them for me.

So you want us to win the FA Cup? I'll take it.

I'm all behind the pool, corruption through and through from Real Madrid for years. I actually want pool to win everything. Any neutral can see how Liverpool have done everythign right, their manager ooses class and the family feel from the club is second to none. Their net spend shows how to do everything right. 5-0 to Pool in the final, city to slip up in the league, happy days!

I'm not sure why it's a discussion really, if the roles were reversed I would expect Liverpool fans to hope we lose every game (and that was almost always the case in the past).

That being said, I really like Klopp and he's done a fantastic job. I wish him the very worst going forward. :p

You described me twice in there. I'm both a United fan and I don't want anyone else to win anything because my club is rubbish.

To be fair to Liverpool, even at United peak I never expected us to do well in Europe. We usually had to fight tooth and nail to get anywhere past the group stages in the CL because English football was so far behind the top European sides. It was always a tactical battle to beat team rather than relying on our strength and quality.

Must be nice playing in Europe and expecting to win.

Anyway, back on topic. I just hope the final is a good game because I fear that RM will be swept aside.

They have had huge slices of luck to get this far and even then they have only scraped through a few times over 2 legs. I think in a single game they won't be good enough. Last nights game was complete tosh until the last few minutes of the game. I think RM will take the same tactics into the final unfortunately.

I thought when I said there would be a public service announcement playing YNWA that people would have realised I was taking the **** :p

In all seriousness though, while I have no doubt that every Utd fan will be supporting Madrid in the CL and City in the League, and similarly those bitter neutrals will too, I'm sure, even if they don't admit it, almost all supporters are and will be more than a bit envious and respect what Liverpool have built.

Every summer half the people on this forum award City the title before a ball has been kicked and had it not been for Liverpool there wouldn't have been a title race for the past 4 seasons. We are proof that all teams should be able to compete (relative to their size obviously) regardless of a rival having more money.
