UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [3rd - 5th October 2023]

Joking aside no manager good enough to make a difference would touch the Man Utd job.

There are just too many problems behind the scenes and any top tier manager would be worried of having their reputation shattered
Absolutely, we are fortunate to have ETH, certainly no improvements that are going to come to the rescue with us in this state.

I am going to grasp at the positives here and say although we are ****, at least the match was good entertainment and we can look forward to Hojlund banging in a few more against weak sides.

The PL currently sit 4th in terms of coefficient points won this season and need to be in the top 2 to get an extra CL spot next season. This is what happens when Utd and Arsenal are in the CL rather than playing in the Europa.

ETH isn’t a bad manager but he has made mistakes. What Man Utd need to do is give him time even if it means some poor seasons. The club needs renovation not a coat of paint.

Man Utd will probably still fire him by Christmas though.

Wasn't he fantastic for Inter in the champions league final and for Inter on a whole. You don't suddenly become crap over night.

The fact we have 3 left backs a right back and our main centre back injured is more of a pressing issue really.

You really are him aren’t you?

Playing 1 good game in the CL final doesn’t make you a great player.

Hes been absolutely awful, how long can they keep playing him when he’s costing them matches? Had VAR worked the way it should he’d have cost more points as well.

Think it's a bit early to be writing Arsenal off. Tricky away tie in the group stages, these things happen.

Just clarifying for the sake of it - but i saw someone say that onana was a midfielder until recently, someone threw him in goal a few years back and hes been stuck there ever since - that is actually a joke right?

Who then? Name one name. Because unless Klopp or Pep are leaving I'm not seeing any options. I would have taken Nagelsmann but he's just taken the Germany job.
You’re always looking at big names. I’d think along the lines of De Zerbi. I honestly think he has the character to do a job at Utd

Jeez...conceded 18 goals in all comps so far. Expansive football though eh. Gotta do the basics first, be hard to beat.

I don't think De Zerbi is moving so soon personally. And he's never handled a big job so it would be a crazy gamble. He's done well at small clubs punching above their weight, just like Moyes did.

It only makes sense to fire ETH if we have a plan for what happens next.
