Well,its clear Greenwood just isn't ready for the first team. He's been doing nothing for weeks.


If a winger can't beat a man or put in a great cross or score they are basically useless.


None if our players seem competent to beat a man 1v1. Therefore we can't create any space.
 
I don't understand our fans. We play against teams that defend high and let us counter attack them, we do well. We play against teams that set up sensibly and we struggle. Its not the team blowing hot and cold, its that we are completely one note and suck when the opposition don't make it easy to counter attack. We also do well when they can't defend at more than a sunday league level. None of this is news. This is exactly why I want Ole gone. Top teams generally dictate games and the few that are counter attacking teams at the top level are set up and coached brilliantly defensively. We are not.

Agreed but why is our passing so crap. Also passing so slowly across pitch opposition have all day to reset

Because quick passing requires you to know where the pass is going before you get the ball. If you make 5 passes and every player looks up, takes a few touches and then passes then its going to be slow. Thats the sign of a poorly coached side. One that doesn't know what its going to do or trying to do. We just wing it.

Thats why counter-attacking is easy. You are running at defences with pace, looking up and you usually have time to see where your other players are around you as you go. Either that or you are simply running onto balls over the top. Playing like City and Liverpool play takes coaching and all the players to be able to put one touch passes together and players to move as others expect them to.

I do find it bizarre that none of the coaching team go with this train of thought though, what do they actually do every training session... Beggar’s belief.

Utd do have some decent players to play the counter attack well, but like you say it requires a decent coach to do that. Ole is just winging it.
