I wonder whether we can keep playing our home games in Budapest :p

A decent performance but the 2-0 lead and the way Leipzig play was always going to make things a little easier for us but even so, we done the job.

edit: we are joking about the Phillips comments above? Granted he's been better than Williams and Kabak but he's bang average, at best. He's also everything we don't look for in a CB - slow and terrible on the ball. If we were a team that defends the edge of our 18 yard box and wanted a CB to head things away then he can do a job but he's not and never will be a long term CB (even as a 4th or 5th choice) for a side that plays with a high line and plays the ball out of the back.

He hasn't been just bang average, to say he has is unfair imo.

He is also a different style of center back which many pundits have said and others too, he isn't a modern center back so if your judging him based on that then no he isn't as good.

He is however good in the style he plays, does it suit Liverpool long term? No but still deserves praise for how good he has been

The only reason why he's still at the club right now is because nobody would take him on loan in the summer. He was on loan at a 2nd tier German side last season and couldn't hold down a place in their side.

He done ok yesterday and he'll have the odd performance like that but he's not a PL level player, let alone somebody that should be in our squad and that's regardless of the way we play, that just makes him even more unsuitable. I'm loving the praise he was getting from 'Macca & Fletch' though because if Eddie Howe finds himself a club before the summer then we could sell him for £20m.
 
Stick Hyypia in this team and he'd look as out of place as Phillips. Stick Phillips in our team from the 2000's and he'd look like Hyypia. Phillips is an English Hyypia without the experience. Change my mind BaZ :p

Totally agree, Phillips will have some decent games, he's an old school defender, but let's be honest he's a lower level premier league club quality or championship player. If Liverpool hadn't had the injury problems this season he wouldn't be anywhere near the team, Klopp played midfielders ahead of him in defence for a reason!

Maybe with Fabinho in midfield he will offer Kabak and Phillips the protection that they need for the remaining games.
