UEFA Champions League/Europa League 1/2/3 May *** Spoilers ***

What worried me about the performance last night was there was clear periods of the game at 2-2 where all Liverpool had to do was work the ball up the pitch and then, if there was nothing on, just play it back across the midfield or defence and keep working the ball. We did this really well against City, however the team last night seemed fixated on attacking regardless when they really should've been holding the ball.

It felt to me like whilst we rushed up in attack the midfield support wasn't there and the gap between our forwards and midfield was exposed massively for Roma's counters. It is very frustrating as the second leg vs City post 30 minutes shows we know how to handle this (and they were significantly better than Roma) but last night is a cause for concern as I seriously doubt any of our players thought 'Oh this is done' and Jurgen certainly didn't..

It's terrible. Back in 11 there was a measly 5000 pool for wembly tickets. Not even enough to go round for season ticket holders either! It was all done on how many away games you went to even if you had a season ticket.
To be fair to the clubs, there's not a lot they can do when they're being given a fraction of the amount of tickets, that they sell week in week out, for the biggest game imaginable. As I mentioned, we're effectively getting just over 10,000 tickets and have close to 30,000 season ticket holders and probably close to 40,000 supporters that went to every home CL game. However the clubs decide to divide the tickets up there's going to be fans missing out that feel that they deserve a ticket.

Liverpool are guaranteeing a ticket to any supporter (season ticket holder or not) that went to at least 7 games excluding the qualifier - basically all 6 homes + at least 1 away and then there will be a ballot for whatever is left to supporters that have been to 6 games. Tbf I think that's a fair enough way of doing things. I know season ticket holders will always say they deserve priority but providing they went to the games available to them then they'll get a ticket - given that the club probably only got around 3k tickets for each away game, the only way a non season ticket holder is guaranteed a final ticket is the vast majority of season ticket holders passed up the chance of going to one of the away games.

Judging by Klopp's post match comments it would seem as if the decision to keep attacking came from him - he kept saying that had we got the 3rd goal then the game was really over.

I don't think we thought the game was over but when you're going into the 2nd half knowing that they need to score 4 without reply when you've managed to score 7 in the previous 135 minutes, I think it would have took the edge off our performance and a bit of complacency slipped in. I think the complacency actually showed more in our attacking play than defensive play tbf too. As I said earlier, have we counter attacked as bad all season as we did in the 2nd half yesterday?

Thats true. I couldn't really figure out the roles of Firmino and Salah either, it also left Trent horribly exposed and certainly dented his confidence as he made some brutal mistakes.

It looked like we were playing a lob sided 4-4-2 with Wijnaldum trying to play both as a RM and CM, with Salah staying right up top.

Last night was reminiscent of the 2nd leg against City. I think it's just a case of being that Liverpool's best form of defence is all out attack, when they try to play conservatively and protect a lead they play like West Brom.

They seem to get the ball, instantly attack, then suddenly remember they're 4-0 up a should be playing defensive football, panic, and give the ball away.

The defending against City in the second leg was the best I've seen from this Liverpool team. Last night was awful. They looked totally spent after 60-70 minutes, and the subs didn't help at all.

I think one leg on a neutral ground suits us, but it needs to be over in 90 minutes. I just hope the starting 11 have the stamina to fight to the end.
