UEFA Champions League/Europa League 1/2/3 October *** Spoilers ***

I tell you who Manu need in the January window, hibbert. He's awesome I promise. Shall we say 17 million?

If united don't spend 100 million next year and if the funds are no longer there I think this is the beginning of the demise and I don't think it matters who manages them. They just need far too much investment right now and I'm not sure any manager is going to get it.

Instead managers will get some money and fired in quick succession when they don't meet the fans demands for success after years of being spoilt.

Even if moyes got the sack tomorrow, who in their right mind would take the job?

Bayern schooled city and made them look average.

Last season over two legs against this same bayern team who won the whole thing, arsenal matched them and narrowly lost on away goals.

City for me are not a top team in europe. They are still quite new to the Tournament and need to establish themselves.

For all you can moan about Arsenal going 8 years winning nothing, Arsenal are easily a top 6/8 team in europe over the course of 8 years always reaching 2nd round and beyond.

Only Barca have humiliated arsenal . The rest of the times Arsenal have narrowly lost.

Tonight i think arsenal would have given Bayern more of a match but feel Bayern would still have beaten us but not so easily.

First of all. Our midfield would have pressed Bayern better and we would have kept the ball a lot better then city.

2nd of all, Do you see kieran Gibbs or Sagna making such **** up defensive errors like city tonight in the way in which our back 4 is playing? hell no.

Like i said, Bayern would have worked harder against Arsenal tonight.

Arsenal still a long way off in even thinking about CL glory.

i am not delusional. If we reach the Semi's, then we can start fantasising about CL glory.

Season is still early.

Can we just have a united "I can't believe we didn't sign...." Thread where united fans can name anyone who was available that is having a run of good games, that they never once mentioned in the transfer thread ;)

The thing is....people we should have signed were mentioned.

And in the end it doesn't matter! We could have signed 3 world class creative players and they'd still be left on the bench because Moyes likes playing the chaff.

In the first game Bayern absolutely destroyed you, they didn't bother to turn up in the second game.

Arsenal do look amazing at the moment and their first half yesterday was incredible but I would wait a bit longer before saying how amazeballs you are long-term in a European context...

I looked through the transfer thread the other day to see when ozil started getting a mention. Even when he was linked to united for 20 minutes no one was that fussed. Perhaps the imminent signing of fabregas took up all the excitement ;)

Moyes clearly has a reason for not playing kagawa and I'm sure even if he was playing and when he plays he will still get ****ged off as crap on here by some of the united faithful. Hopefully he will get a run of games to prove that.

I cannot see united holding on to Rooney now past this season.

i never said we are long term in europe. i said wait and see if we can reach semi's before we talk:p

Bayern still got battered at home and nearly lost the tie.

What do we discuss? what matters most? scoreline or amount of shots?

Many times arsenal battered there opponents statistacly but got away with just a draw or even nothing.

Scoreline is whats judged and Bayern scraped past arsenal only on away goals yet spanked Barca and City with ease.

And this is at a time when Arsenal was nowhere near playing like they are now!

Well we were all fairly sure Ozil wasn't leaving, and anyway clearly we've wanted Ozil since we didn't get him the last time.

The one I'm really miffed about is Eriksen, cheap and creative. It's the kind of signing that is a no brainer.

Bayern and Milan embarrassed us, both with HUGE leads clearly barely tried in the following legs, fans like to pretend otherwise but it's not true no matter how you cut it. The Milan game where we got thrashed then almost came back most Arsenal fans ignore that Milan had all the better chances and were extremely unlucky not to score a couple more in the second leg and Bayern the same. They barely tried and still could have scored a handful. In the Bayern game they had 25 shots to our... 5, 6 corners to our, 1, 3 offsides to our 1. They dominated the game and could and should have scored another bucketload, they only had 16 shots in the first leg, 25 in the second we weren't improved, just insanely lucky against a team who really didn't turn up. In the second leg against Milan they had more shots, we committed almost three times as many fouls, Arsenal had to make more saves, again it was against a team that thought the tie was wrapped up and never got out of first gear.

Arsenal looked great yesterday, but Bayern wouldn't play as poorly as Napoli, and pretending Gibbs and Sagna all of a sudden aren't awful and don't consistently make terrible mistakes defensively because of a few games... well, classic Mendoza is all I can say. Sagna is one of the most error prone fullbacks in the league and Navas is one of the reasons Richards was exposed. In general the fullback will mark the winger and when the opposition fullback overlaps the winger needs to go with them, Navas let them go each and every time. Richards did screw up a couple of times when he should have gone because sometimes it works out the other way around but it was mostly Navas ignoring the runs behind.

Sagna in particular but Gibbs would have been torn apart as badly or worse than City were in fullback positions tonight. Because right wing we have Walcott(usually) who is equally awful at helping the fullback and Sagna is just rubbish. Left wing, WIlshire would be best to help the fullback out really well defensively, Ozil/Cazorla, we'll see, Podolski actually works pretty hard there but still not the most defensively minded heavy work rate player around.

I quite like Richards but you can't not factor in that he's barely played in two years, mental starting him tonight over Zabaleta.

Yes understood, I just do not see moyes lasting now. I thought he would initially but I do not think he will be given any time to rebuild a team his way. I just cannot see him getting enough from the side to survive with any confidence until next summer.

I think 3 or 4 players of fairly high quality, not talking absolute world class but not far off, would do wonders for us.

At the moment I'm hoping Moyes will realise that certain members of our squad are squad players at best and our first 11 needs strengthening, which to be fair he has acknowledged multiple times recently.

I don't think we have no money, we have a hilarious amount of big money sponsorship deals, are making decent profits and the debt is being paid off. We've not thrown money around like City and Chelsea but we have stumped up cash where 'needed'. We bought Phil Jones and Ashley Young for £40m odd... :/

I think the transfer window was a total mess for various reasons, and I think we'll probably get a player or two in January and probably a couple more in the summer.

A few tweaks to the system and first eleven and things will be quite fine, but they might be rough for a while yet. Finishing in the top 4 should be our main target, for now at least, no reason we can't do that with a fully fit squad.

Judging by the way he's started I don't think any of us want him to build a team 'his way'. 'His way' seems to be no creativity, just boring workhorse players. It's like the bad part of Fergie without any of the good stuff.

I can only hope at this point that he's bad enough that he gets fired before we lose players like Kagawa and can't replace them.

I don't blame Moyes at all for the state United are in. Just look what state he has left Everton in. He just needs time and some money.

Really not sure why Kagawa has not seen much action. Rather than the usual "Moyes doesn't know what he's doing" line, I'm sure there must be a logical reason to it. From what I've read he's not really suited to a wide position and we don't really have the midfield to suit his type of game?

We're also reeling from the loss of Scholes - remember how **** we were the first time he retired?

Agreed.

Dropped far too deep at times. The game cried out for Rooney or Kagawa playing off RvP.

Rafael looked good, Smalling looked award on the ball. As much as some scousers on here going on about Shaktar aren't all that, to be fair, they pinged it about pretty well in the final 3rd and a number of their players would walk into top four sides right now

Srna, Douglas Costa, Taison

Douglas Costa was painful. He's more one-footed than Valencia!
