UEFA Champions League/Europa League 12/13/14 April *** Spoilers ***

I've got to give Carrick some credit, he was immense tonight, as was Rooney and Giggs.

We've just got to beat City on Saturday and I think the treble could be possible, if not then the double and a CL final is a great season and I'll be more than happy. :)

No team that puts 5 past Inter, away, is going to be a walk over.

So I dont think anybody should be talking of finals just yet.

Shalke is no easy task in the first place, but imo Utd have a better chance of making it a better final if everyone is fit and available.

Either Spanish side would be horrendous to face imo but Fergie still has a better record against Barca, just - I believe ( given we beat them in 2008).

Either would be a mountain to climb but would be wonderful to play for the CL trophy at Wembley

Chelsea have a huge job on their hands, the squad has been left to age and no quality added for so long. Now on the eve of FFP being an issue it becomes clear they need to complete overhaul, lovely.

Simon Clancy sums up my opinions of the huge job at hand:
SiClancy: If Abramovich is serious about winning this pot, he needs to swallow his pride and bring back Mourinho.

SiClancy: He also needs to put players like Lampard and Kalou and Alex out to seed. And build a team around Essien in a forward role.
(That last part is his usual dry sarcasm)

SiClancy: You could make a strong case that Cech, Terry, Cole, Malouda, Kalou, Lampard, Ferreira, Alex, Bosingwa + Drog should go

SiClancy: In hindsight, binning off Ashley Cole for his football ability is harsh. He's still very good. Shame he's such a fanny.

Great game tonight, I thought Carrick was exceptional and Rooney was just world class. Christ knows how Giggs keeps doing it as well, 3 assists over the two legs, his incisive passing in the final third is about as good as there is in world football tbh, some of the goals he's created over the last couple of years.....

Chelsea are a very very good team though

Soooo, does anyone fancy united to do the treble?

I'd say it's likely if they get Real in the final (assuming you get past Schalke), we've obviously bottled the premier league and there's no major threat in the FA Cup.

It's certainly all coming into place for us, Rooney's back to his very best, Rio back fit, Valencia back fit. Against Fulham last weekend we pretty much changed our team and this weekend against City it wouldn't surprise me if we make 5 or 6 changes again and I still think we'll have a great chance of beating City especially if Tevez isn't fit for them

Still plenty of football to be played though and potentially a lot of disappointment as well just one game at a time, thankfully though they're all pretty big, Manc derby this weekend, Arsenal title decider next month, Chelsea still to play in the league again as well, two games against Schalke or Inter - great time to be a United fan

To back up what im saying:
Cech 29
A Cole 31
Terry 31
Alex 29
Ivanovic 27
Essien 29
Torres 27
Lampard 33
Anelka 32
Drogba 33
Malouda 32
Zhirkov 28
Benayoun 31
Hilário 36

Hoho, have fun Torres, hope you enjoy your young hungry squad.

This is where we tend to get strong, when the games come thick and fast and each of them is a huge match, I think we're at our weakest when we're overconfident.

If United got to the final, with it being at Wembley would it be an advantage?

I'd imagine there would be considerably more United supporters than Barca/Madrid ones.

edit: Torres is going to regret it so badly when Liverpool places higher than them next PL season. Dalglish seems to have done a miracle job with them.

You'd be shocked.
When we played RM in the CL 9899230498 years ago (sigh) there was a good 15,000 or so of them without tickets who came over anyway.
Surely for a CL final they could more then quadruple this number?
The allocation was only 28k for the two teams anyway, right?

Exactly, guess I was wrong when I bemoaned his new contract; might've been the confidence booster he needed to get back into his old form.

Just coming back from old traford, great time and had 2nd row pitch seats, Rooney, carick and giggs did well, Chelsea were never really up for it apart from droga, glad he did not start.

Indeed, we were really saved by the pressure to keep starting Fernancy over Drogba; wonder how the games would've gone with the old partnership of Anelka and Drogba up front and Torres coming on as an impact sub...

The only way Lolnando would be an impact sub is if he put on a bit of weight and broke the subs bench.
