This is true, it made him the obvious candidate to sell to buy (as he had to do) and was explained as such by Rafa himself in the same set of interviews.
At one point there were deals set up to buy Barry, Keane and Silva, only Keane manifest.
After he was re-sold, rafa sought confidence that this cash would be re-invested, they said yes.
Various things left Alonso wanting out, so he was sold too.
He sold Alonso, had deals to sign Silva, Aquilani and Jovetec (sp? the kid from Fiorentina)
The board pulled the plug on all but the Aquilani deal.

Anyway back to discussing the CL i guess.

ITV have a horrible, biased and uneducated take on Europe.

They treat all European opponents as being second rate compared to English teams.

It was embarrassing last night, Real were just a class act, controlled the game and didn't "need" to attack, the tie was over. Spurs were never going to score 5/6 goals. I thought Spur's tried really hard to break Real down, but it just wasn't enough, the tactic of "lets fall over in the box" didn't help. Had Bale not of dived Spurs could well of gotten one of the penalty decisions, but I doubt it would have affected the out come of the tie.

The BBC are just as bad, but because they don't have the monies to pay for domestic European football it's only noticeable during a dire international match featuring England. And usually they rip the team weaker on paper rather than on the field...
 
The BBC have some decent pundits / commentators though, they're still biased and uneducated when it comes to any foreign team / player "they've" not heard of before.
 
Are we all watching PSV - Benfica tonight? PSV should hopefully come flying out tonight. Should be a great game.

2-5 on the night, 3-10 on aggregate! Porto are going to easily win this I reckon. They just said on ITV that André Villas Boas was doing scouting reports for Bobby Robson when he was 17, and he got his C license when he was 17 as well! I still haven't got my C license and I'm 21, won't get it until the end of the summer and by then I'll be 22. :(
 
Cracking game, what a player Dzsudzsák is (this is by no means based on football manager experience :o)

I wish more games were as open as this one, gotta love second legs!
