UEFA Champions League/Europa League 16/17/18 April *** Spoilers ***

I’ve got the be honest, as pleased as I am with our performance over two legs, I’m shocked at how toothless Napoli were. We’ve had harder games against Huddersfield and Cardiff this year.

Also, for a defence that’s supposedly as bad as ours, conceding 6 goals in 14 games really isn’t that bad.

Yep very pleased with the result. God knows what’s happened to Napoli though. I remember when we last played them in Europe and they gave us a real run for the money.
 
The Dutch League has cancelled an entire round of fixtures the weekend before the first leg of the CL semis to give Ajax extra time to prepare. It's nothing new but the PL really is the only League that does next to nothing to help its sides in Europe.

that's how it should be helping your sides but as you say the English fa do nothing to help our sides a bit

Obviously a different situation but thinking back to how much people were whinging about Spurs having moved a few dates/venues around because they were still pretending the stadium was a few weeks away from completion, there was a lot of 'think of the away fans, they'll have booked hotels etc.' and that was at considerably longer notice than this.

If the Premier League cancelled an entire weekend of fixtures at what, barely a week's notice so as to give Spurs and Liverpool a better shot at the semi finals, there would be absolute uproar from people with unrefundable hotels, worthless train tickets etc.

What we should be doing is arranging the league calendar a bit better to start with, so that we're not playing a Sat/Tue/Sat/Tue league schedule in April/May in the first place, when we know any half decent teams in the league could well be competing in a couple of cup competitions at the same time.
 
I think it's great credit to the PL that all 4 teams in the European finals could be English, probably gone and jinxed it now but it's some going!

What the Dutch League have done is extreme and I certainly wasn't suggesting this should happen in the PL* but as a general point, we're the only league that does little to nothing to make life easier for sides in Europe. You will regularly see European sides have their league games scheduled for the Friday before a round of European games. As it happens Liverpool are due to play Huddersfield on the Friday before the 1st leg of the semi but that was more luck than judgement. The 2nd leg of the CL semi's are also the midweek before the final league game of the season which could see Liverpool/Spurs play a hugely intense game just a few days before what could potentially be a league/cl qualification deciding game. La Liga for example play their final game a week later than us.

*Fixtures are subject to change due to European progress and we will almost certainly see both Liverpool and Spurs weekend games prior to the 2nd leg be played a day earlier - Liverpool's game will be moved from a Sunday to a Saturday (with the 2nd leg on a Tuesday) and Spurs' will be moved from a Monday to Sunday (with the 2nd leg on a Wednesday).
