UEFA Champions League/Europa League 19/20/21 February *** Spoilers ***

I bet Wenger wishes he hadn't thrown away the FA cup now, was his plan to rest players so that they would still have a minute chance going into the second leg? :p

Again, cynical old me. I highly doubt he didn't know what he was doing, although he will deny it.

Another 'man of honour', both Chelsea fans making comments.

At first glance I thought it was in reference to that as well, but I didn't think Sim would stoop to that level tbh. Who knows.

I'd like to think simulatorman wouldn't have been referencing that.

Indeed I wasn't. Clearly some people here do not know that I don't go further than a little banter.

I will repeat what I said with a little more clarification. Arsenal were dead and buried last night and they will not be rising from the dead in Munich. It’s as straight forward as that.

I can only guess that those with a warped mind or an axe to grind would see it in any other way. I'll leave them to wallow in their ignorance.

I thought it was a pretty obvious insult towards Manchester United fans, of which the forum has quite a few.

I picked up previously on the 'nose' / Jew, anti Semitic comments made previously too.

No you didn't, anti-Semitic my arse :p
You chose to believe that I was referring to Jews when I made my comment, you brought Jews in to it, I didn't. It wasn't even meant as an insult :p
It's probably the same again, Sim hasn't ever had a bad word to say about anyone or anything yet you choose to be 'offended' because it has a tenuous link to something. If you were a Man.U. fan and he'd mentioned them & Munich then you might have a point, get a grip.
You should get on your high horse and fap on over to GD where people actually intentionally insult & make bad taste jokes, you could have a field day there, if you don't explode that is.

Bit disappointed with the result last night if i'm honest. We started off pretty well, looked incisive and broke into dangerous areas a couple of times and then conceded from a deflected cross which if Ramsey hadn't touched would have gone straight to an Arsenal player. From that moment the game changed and it was same old same old. Defence turns into a shambles and we can't get anything going up front. Thought their 3rd was very lucky too although the same can be said of our goal.

Think Wenger should have played Walcott up front as the 2 CB's are pretty slow. He made plenty of runs but as he was so isolated nothing really worked after the first goal. If Walcott is the centre of the top 3 then the 2 wide players should come more central, there's not point people running into the corners into crossing positions. It's fine when Giroud is playing as you have a lump to cross too but not when you need to pass to feet. I feel we should have commited more attacking wise as when we did break in numbers they certainly didn't look invulnerable.

Bringing on Giroud and moving Walcott to the right was a decent move but why the **** take off Podolski?

No doubt they are a better team than us but we could have made a much better job of it. Vermaelen looks a shadow of himself this season :(.

EDIT

I hate Ramsey.

Walcott can't play up front on his own, it takes more than just being quick to be a threat.

He just tried to play off the last man, you've got to drop deep and show for the ball, challenge in the air and hold the ball up, he just isn't capable of that.

I'm not saying Arsenal would have won with Giroud up front but they would have faired better.

My dreadful was because it was just that, a dreadful joke/play on words :p, not due to any possible or not possible Munich reference.

Which is pretty much what i said, the whole front 3 need to be closer when he plays up front. Wenger plays the same way regardless of the personel.

No, that isn't what he said at all, Wilshire and Santi drove the ball beyond the midfield, to the defence and got within yards of Walcott, but there was Walcott, never making himself available for a pass. Getting closer doesn't mean passing to Walcott became an option, he made about two runs the entire game, and both of them were crap. Following the CB isn't a "run" its holding his position next to the CB. When Wilshire ran towards the box, if Walcott dropped 5 yards off the CB, he can pass to him and Wilshire could potentially pull a CB out of position, pass wilshire in through the gap, he didn't do this once.

He could run across the defence, making a CB follow him, creating a gap, letting Wilshire or maybe someone else run through the gap, Walcott didn't do that once.

When he did the exact same thing every time, and was all game long looking for the same pass in behind, but with two CB's who knew every move Walcott was going to make during every second of the game, the chance to pass to him was never there.

Dozens of top strikers play the lone striker role great, and the only thing in common, is movement. Drogba plays it with strength, but he still moves in varied and unpredictable ways throughout a game, dropping deep every now and then makes you unpredictable, so you can drop a shoulder, cause a CB to react then run in behind... it makes even Walcott's only trick easier, even if he screwed up or did nothing with every run, it would still leave the CB guessing as to when he'll try to run in behind.

RVP doesn't use strength a huge amount in his game, yet like Drogba, his movement is beyond excellent, sometimes he drops deep to the right, runs across the edge of the box with the ball tempting CB's/other players out of position, sometimes that leaves him a gap to run in, or shoot, sometimes he passes others in, but its the creation of space and the movement of the defenders he generates that makes him so effective. Sometimes he looks like he'll drop out wide, then will turn and run in behind the defence, sometimes he'll drop deep centrally, turn and run at goal, sometimes pick up the pass, turn a player, make a gap and pass someone else in. Its the varied nature of his play that leaves defenders with not a clue what he'll do next.

Falcao is almost pure strength like Drogba, but his movement is varied, going all over the place.

Sturridge is small, yet sometimes he drops deep, sometimes he shoots from 30 yards, sometimes he runs at defenders, he's not completely predictable and hard to play against. Walcott made no runs, didn't vary his game, didn't link up with a single other player well during his time as the striker, and did nothing useful all game.

That is what atpbx was getting at, being closer would have made no difference, Walcott was the problem, and this was a problem every time he played as the lone striker.

Barca will spank AC, other game should be closer but Galatasaray at home I can't imagine is a lovely place to go and Schalke aren't great so you could be good.

I've not mentioned being offended personally so I've no idea where you have got this from. I think both comments were just poor form from two posters who should know better.

I'm not on any high horse, I just think it's pretty low of two posters, who should know better, I dip my toes in to GD and I don't rank it much higher then certain other forums :p.
