UEFA Champions League/Europa League 20/21/22 November *** Spoilers ***

Really strange game by Wilshere, his dribbling, flicks and general movement were excellent, but his passing was truly ABYSMAL, and that is being exceedingly kind to him. At least 5 times minimum he gave the ball away in midfield, and I'm not talking difficult passes under pressure when not in full control of the ball, seriously it was like watching Salif Diao or something, I I'd be amazed if our pass completion rate was more than low-80s in the first half.

Our passing was horrific in the first half, much improved the second... theirs didn't improve and was probably worse than ours in the first half.... just.

It wasn't a very high quality game, I know I know, its just Coventry, but it was winning with a crisp passing, good movement and good goals. We won, pretty easily as well, against dire opposition, but we didn't look very good doing it. The whole team seemed to need to warm up, not disimilar to the Reading cup game where we were just woeful in the first half and about 3/4's of the team appeared to be different players entirely from half time onwards.

Pass completion rate itself doesn't bother me, if your defence is solid then give the ball away, you get it back and try again. I prefer trying better more difficult passes and failing than passing around midfield. But with our defence, a better team would have probably punished us heavily in the first half. This is the overall worrying thing, our losses haven't been the exception, great play in every game but a few poor performances, its mediocre performances in general, the odd good performance, and too many easily exploitable ones... its why I can't really see where our season can turn around. Will out defence improve throughout the season... nope, can Giroud/Podolski, a little, they haven't been bad, Wilshire will get form and do even better, but as he's already one of our best performers with barely any form, its elsewhere in the squad we need improvement, and I can't see where it will come from.

City were terrible. Not sure what Mancini was thinking taking Aguero off and putting Milner on???

Crosses into Dzeko? strange really though most managers would have replaced a defender with 15mins to go, perhaps he wanted to preserve the 1-1 draw with RM for his CV when he gets sacked. :p

Not looking good in Rome:

JUST IN: 2 Tottenham fans hospitalized code red after being stabbed in a night assault to a Rome pub from hundred Lazio hooligans.10 wounded

One of the two stabbed Tottenham fans apparently in very serious condition

From Tancredi Palmeri on Twitter.

Tottenham fans injured in clashes in Rome

A Tottenham Hotspur supporter has been seriously injured and nine others hurt in clashes with rival fans in Rome.

Spurs are due to play Lazio in the Italian capital later in a Europa League match, and hundreds of their fans are in the city.

The Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper reported the Spurs fan was seriously injured in the bar brawl.

He is understood to have suffered a serious injury to an artery after being stabbed.

Nine of the injured fans are believed to be British and the 10th is American.

The BBC's Rome correspondent, Alan Johnston, reported police as saying 30 people - armed with iron bars and with their faces covered - approached the bar where the English fans were drinking in the early hours of Thursday and fighting broke out.

Our correspondent said the bar was wrecked and five people were arrested.

All of them were Italians who the police believe to be Lazio fans.

Some Lazio supporters have in the past been associated with fascism - the club was supported by Mussolini before the war - while Tottenham have traditionally drawn support from the Jewish community.

Some Spurs fans refer to themselves as the "Yid Army", and earlier this year Peter Herbert, chairman of the Society of Black Lawyers, threatened to report them to the police.

The newspaper La Repubblica said "urban warfare" broke out at the Drunken Ship bar in the Campo de' Fiori with up to 100 "Ultras" attacking Spurs fans.

It said Lazio fans were armed with knives, baseball bats, and knuckle dusters.

A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said it was investigating and would provide consular assistance.

Probably get a ban knowing UEFA, or the black lawyers society will pipe up.

No fan should have the risk of dying just following his team.

Spurs fans being attacked in Rone, 5 in hospital. They should ban the Rone clubs, this happens all the time.

They got fined for racist chanting as well at the Lane in Sept. I doubt much will be done. Ofcourse if it was us/any other team we would get banned/huge fine/thrown out.

To be honest your post makes it sound tame to how it actually appears to have gone down. Apparently around 40 men with face masks, helmets and iron bars stormed the bar where Spurs fans were drinking. I find it incomprehensible that this kind of thing can still go on in what we perceive to be a developed country.

An y country who consents robe ran by Berlusvoni is not a developed nation :p

As above if this was UK we would be kicked out of all competitions and the rest.

Pruned that sentence a bit for you.

EDIT - Perhaps i worded it wrong, Italians hate the English fans so (Italians show hostility towards English fans in the stadiums) i wasn't inclining the English fans are responsible for the hostility. Italians just always show hostility towards English fans.

If an English team did it in Europe they'd be kicked out. Always trouble when English teams go to Italy, goes largely unreported by English press too and never a whisper from UEFA or Fifa

Apparently now the Italian police are emptying bars by force and pretty much throwing Spurs fans into coaches to get them to the stadium. Delightful. (text from a friend who has travelled)

Ah k, i was just saying that i think there is still loads of hostility between italian fans let alone when introducing english fans into it.

Anzhi are 2-0 up with around 10 minutes to go. Barring a miraculous comeback from Udinese, a win tonight for us will send us through.

edit: and unfortunately it's not a surprise to read about the attack on Spurs fans. Whenever an English side travels to Rome or the south of Italy, this happens.
