***UEFA Champions League/Europa League 2010/11 Matchday 1***

Good result for Rangers with the draw even with the criticism of "anti-football" that will no doubt come out. Doubt many would've thought Rangers would get even the point against Manchester Utd. :)

Bit worrying for UTD that they were unable to break down Rangers...

Well, its hardly a surprise considering it wasn't the most creative team we had out.

I hate 'anti-football' but you can't really blame poor teams for using it, cheese to the max.

Wrong line up. You know full well that Rangers were never going to come and play open expansive football so why Play Park & Gibson against them

Exactly, it was fine when players like Gibson/Park/O'Shea were squad players who were only used for weaker games and when we had injuries, but now Fergie is actually trying to win games with them.

I don't think we created a single meaningful chance tonight, we could have played for another 90 mins and I doubt we would have scored. How could he get it so wrong? This is exactly the kind of game where we need someone who can produce a bit of magic like Berbatov or Nani.

Luckily, I was playing footie tonight, so I'm pleased with the 2-2 whereas if I had been watching, I'm sure I'd have been disappointed to have lost the lead.

Not only that you would have stressed your heart and probably shortened your life. :(

Isn't it always that like that watching Spurs? :p

One minute we look like world beaters, then hit self destruct button and forget how to play football.

Plus points VDV looks the real deal and a cut above, Jenas actually played well, Kaboul starting to look a good player though still needs to work on his defensive credentials a bit.

(I won't even bother to mention Bale as he is always good ;))

Yeah I know but I don't remember their keeper in any sort of trouble over the 90...

Not at all :)

Was very pleased about that performance, you can all say what you like about the "anti-football" on display but at no point (apart from some shots from Gibson) did Man Utd look like scoring....

We could have even had a pen :p

Great result and fantastic point for us, great start to the campaign :D

Interesting result in Turkey, 4-0 Valencia...ouch, really thought the turks would be a very tricky tie away for all the teams as well.

Im all for choosing Valencia, Fabio and Hernandez in the starters - but gibson, Smalling and Park, Brown and Rio along with them - what a complete disaster (Im only including Rio in that as he hasnt started consistantly in seemingly about a season)

Even before the start of the match , that would have given Rangers a boost in moral, I just cant see what SAF was hoping to see

I know a couple of changes had to be made in regards to Liverpool at the weekend (lets say Evra and Scholes) but Im stunned that Vidic and Rafael didnt start , and even Giggs (instead of Gibson)

I dread to think how long Valencia is going to be out for

We could have even had a pen

.

I dont know what incident you are talking about - but Rangers player played the ball with his hand on the floor also, so a Utd pen could have been given also

The ref seemed to be a little pro Rangers in the 1st half also

Assou-Ekotto didn't even look interested for a lot of the game.

I wouldn't have said that, he's just dodgy and a mistake waiting to happen. He almost made up for his mistakes on 90 minutes when he burst forward and won a free kick. Sadly the free kick was wasted.

if its a clean break - he should make a full recovery, if it isnt then, he might never be good enough for united when he returns and end up back at wigan

Zamora screwed at least some of the ligaments, they only saw this after they went in to fix the bone. The closer to the ankle the more likely I guess that the ligaments take some damage aswell, Valencia's looked closer to the ankle.

IT did look a nothing tackle at first, Valencia even seemed to have gone down and tried to get up before seeing his ankle/feeling it, same with the other players I don't think he screamed as it happened, but a couple seconds later they looked and started shouting for help from the bench.

Looked horrible, really didn't see anything in the tackle itself, was in stupid digital bit flicking between games so no rewind. Hope he gets better soon, horrible injury to have.

Truly appauling game to watch though, but understandable, too many changes in the team for my liking, no where near enough creativity or inteligence in central midfield. Ok its a 5 day break, but to Liverpool, rest Berb/Scholes for this game, play at Pool, rest at S****horpe, play Bolton, Valencia, Sunderland, three away games in a row with travel.

I am slightly confused at Redknapp not using Kranjcar much this season, is he still carrying a slight knock or something?
