***UEFA Champions League/Europa League 2010/11 Matchday 1***

I really rate him, was in my World Cup XI that is how well he played. I wondered where he was playing these days, it seems that he is co-owned by Milan and Genoa.

He's actually owned solely by Genoa and on loan at Milan but we have an option to sign him permanently for a fee already agreed.

Technically, it was Genoa doing us a favour in the market in the hope of making use of such friendship in the market at a later time while also making a tidy profit on Boateng. We traded a number of players over the summer (we bought Papastathopoulos and loaned Amelia, they bought Kaladze from us and got co-ownership of the youngsters Zigoni, Oduamadi and Strasser).

We have no reserve teams in Italy so it allows bigger clubs to allow promising players to get playing time while giving an incentive to the receiving club and a reason (the money) to actually use them.

Well there isnt a europa league thread

so I thought I would drop this in here. If anyone is watching the l'pool game on 5 the interviewer gets the stupid question award of the season so far.

He's chatting to the opposition manager who patiently explains he only gets paid if his team wins a game, otherwise no cash. So interviewer asks "what is your plan for the game tonight then?" :p

think I would be planning on winning if my pay depended on it!

^ lol

I feel sorry for Liverpool, it's a no win situation being in this competition - either they do well and it detracts from what should be their focus - getting back in the Champs League and Top 4... or they get knocked out and it's all a bit dreary and dismal.

Anfield looks half empty and the Steaua fans are out-singing them... It's just not the same as Europe on a Tues/Weds is it :(

Get in lad :D

Might just be the fact that we're winning but I've agreed with pretty much everything Taylor's said tonight. Crap manager, good commentator.

Apart from when commentating on Kyrgiakos' miss he said:

"He's aimed to curl it into the top corner of the goal, but he's curled it into the top corner of the stand, unfortunately there's a massive difference."

brilliantly incisive Graham, good work...

Wish Ngog had more composure when he has time because he seems quite good when he hasn't. I think he's got quite a small brain, not as small as Babels but still smaller than most humans. I'd guess it's probably no bigger than a cats brain.

Was this before or after his 2nd goal? ;) :p

After! :p

One touch to take it away from the defender, smack and goal. Play a nice little through ball and ask him to knock it past the keeper in a one-on-one situation and he usually fluffs his lines.

Ngog just about shows that he may have a future at a good level. Not my favourite player but he shows good ability sometimes.

Not a bad result with out torres and gerrard. There is a hint of revival there. I think some of the players are getting back confidence lost under benitez. Ngog is actualy doing it agaisnt good and bad teams, scored agaisnt arsenal and has 6 so far this season. He has improved imo as the manager has faith in him. He actually played when torres is fit and not playing because thers know 1 else.

Yeah it wasn't a brilliant goal, keeper could have done better but they all count I suppose. I might try and watch it if I can find a way to watch it.

sounds like our reserve team got slaughtered 4 - 1 at home to Villa reserves :(

If I find a video feed to watch the match I will comment in the morning - but cant see anything yet
