UEFA Champions League/Europa League 22/23/24 October *** Spoilers ***

Arsenal should have won......if they had bothered to actually create anything in the final 1/3 for the last 30 minutes or so, which they just didnt do at all.

They were dominating the middle 1/2 of the pitch but as soon as they got around the box everything dried up. Did they even have one shot on goal baring one deflection off the top of the crossbar?

It would have been harsh to send Lewandowski off for the elbow as well, as he didnt swing his arm at all and clearly had his focus completely on the ball.

Didn't see the game as I was on shift, but it sounds like we should have probably closed the game out at 1-1 rather than over-committing and getting caught. 3 teams on 6 points in our group... not ideal.

At least our next game is against Palace!

We (Arsenal) should have won. The first 20/30 mins we were far from our best and didn't have the same intensity we have had recently. We we also too sloppy for the second goal not keeping an eye on the back allowing them to score the winner.

We still top our group on GD, hopefully can still win the group.

As you all know. i went to the game last night and here is my thoughts.

The atmosphere was terrific, i think our stand where clearly the loudest trying to outsing the Dortmund fans where some where actually sitting quite close to me a few steps down on the left hand side.

I was sitting in the East stand near the middle right at the top and had a great view from there. The Dortmund fans where fantastic, they was lound, cheerful and created a very colourful atmosphere.

They did not just sing and play drums, they were waving their flags, arms, and clapping in-sync. Its hard to describe but when viewed far away it looks terrific.

At one time they was waving there flags in sync in a helicopter type animation and at times held there flags across and paused every 2 seconds to the song they was singing. Absolute joy watching them.

On to the match. We started sluggish and Dortmund took control of the game for the first 20mins. Sagna at this stage of the game was a liability. He was making far to many mistakes and the team could not even string 2 passes in a row together.

We finished off the 1st half stronger, getting our passing going but Dortmunds defence was world class. we could not break them.

There goal came from a silly mistake, i forgot who but we gave the ball way soo cheaply in our own half that lead to the goal and i think this is what woke up arsenal.

second half we piled lots of pressure searching for that second goal. We looked at over commited and Dormund were reeling us in for the taking and finally they reeled us in so far on there bait, they exposed us once again and scored the winner.

Wilshere was wasted in the wings and he should have come off sooner. gnabry should have come on much early in the game to replace him as he is much more energetic .

Overal we deserved at least a point but i believe this is now the difference between us winning something and not.

If we are serious about winning something, Sagna and co CANNOT make a single mistake in a important game.

You do not want to lose cups/trophies conceding silly goals. Lose it to wonder or very worked on goals, not silly ones.

Next game i will go to is the liverpool one

Very good summary. :)

It was Ramsey who made the mistake of trying to dribble the ball out when really he should have just hoofed it/cleared it out of our half. He was trying to be too pretty and got caught out.

Tbh i watched the game, thought Wilshere was rubbish...gave the ball away far too many times and didnt really make much of an impact in all honesty. We really missed Flamini as hes like a pitbull when chasing the ball, Dortmund pressed us hard...everytime one of our players got the ball there was at least 2-3 players around that player and we couldnt settle into our natural game.

Thought Rosicky was pretty good along with Cazorla when he came on, Ozil was pretty quiet as they hounded him out of the game.

Still think we should have come away with at least a point, 2nd half i thought we played much better but unluckily we conceded at the wrong time.

Not too worried as im sure we can get a result at Dortmund then against Napoli and Marseille in our last 2 group games.

Anyhow back to winning ways come Sat against Palace, i hope they have their lube ready because i can see us giving them a huge whipping due to us losing.

Would have been a great bday pressie for Wenger had we won last night.

At least now Wenger might finally be seeing just how important a solid DM is to us, and get us a world class one after Flamini, or get him now and keep Flamini as backup.

Arteta was good last night, but just don't think he's got the steel that's needed. One of the Bender brothers would be a great choice.

True. I think Flamini is very solid and does provide that steel as mentioned above, but I dontk now if i trust him to stay lol - may just be me. But you're right with Arteta I never though he had that strength that we need for our game, he is a good player though no doubt about it.

A very good player indeed. But you can never see him having that chasing down, pitbull type aggression that Flamini has. Mind you if Flamini had kept that aggression in check a bit against Norwich, he would have been on the pitch last night and it could have been different.

Thats it :). I think we have missed someone like flamini for a long time.

There is no point in trying to improve on Flamini, there isn't anything out there as good for Arsenal as him in his position. What would make sense is to go and look for someone to try and have as cover/someone for the future.
